Default Driver door lock issue

Hi all-

We just picked up a certified 2017 F Sport 450h and seem to be having some driver side front lock issues. Firstly, the pop up part of the lock doesn’t seem to rise as high as the others when unlocked, and secondly, sometimes it won’t unlock from the outside- the handle pulls but nothing happens. All other doors unlock and open fine. In fact, if you reach over from the passenger side you can open by pulling the handle.

I’ve seen the issues with the interior release, but anything regarding the exterior/lock issue?

Any way to rectify or reset without having to go back to the dealer again (it’s far).

Any insights or experience are appreciated!

Depending on your mechanical proficiency, there are youtube videos that show how to disassemble the RX 350/450h interior door panel in order to access the innards of the door. It's not rocket science, and there are no special tools needed. You might be able to see and understand what is interfering with proper operation of the lock. However, if a part is already broken or badly bent, you might end up back at the dealer anyway, so ........

If this is a newly purchased CPO vehicle, check the driver's door paint for signs of repainting. Vehicle could have been in a accident and door lock affected by repair. The issues you identified seem to indicate damage/repair work more so than a faulty part to me.

In either case, a trip to the dealer as this should be covered under warranty. But if the door was damaged/repaired, I would give the car a good lookover for other issues while you have a warranty.

See if the interior door handle service campaign was done (if it applies to your vehicle). Could be they messed it up while accomplishing the fix.
