Key fob range?
I dont really use the key fob to lock and unlock the car, but when I do it seems to never work unless im less than 20-30 feet away even with a clear line of sight and with no obstacles. My other cars are also keyless but their fobs work from +150 feet away and I can also unlock/lock from inside buildings. I talked to a couple friends about this that own other lexus models and they suggest thats a "feature" on newer cars to reduce the chance someone using a scanner trying to clone your key fob as in a parking lot. New batteries and both oem fobs work at around the same distance. How far does your key fob work? With it pointed under my chin I can barely get another 5-10 feet while looking stupid lol..

This long range fob says 800 meters but costs around 1,000 bucks.. Maybe I should just get it.
This might be a long-standing issue with Lexus (and Toyota?) vehicles. My sister-in-law has a '13 RX350. The remote start doesn't work unless you are practically standing beside the vehicle. I haven't used the remote features of mine enough to remember the behavior.

At my dealer they advertise Lexus own as a long range remote starter, whatever "long range" may mean.
The Lexus App is certainly Long Range, if you and the car have cell service the car could be in another state.
The Aftermarket installed Remote Starters are routinely longer range than the Lexus OEM fobs.

Yes, that seems to be the case here, too. I actually don't care that the remote distance is not terribly far with the fob -- don't really want my car starting and running 30 or 40 yards away from me. There's always the Lexus App if it's important to start it from a long distance, and cellular service is available on both ends.
