Happened once to me but pretty sure that it was a pump issue. I go to the same station all the time and only had the issue once on one particular pump.

I have not tried slowing down the pump yet. I just discovered this post and talked with the dealership yesterday after filling up. The first two spill overs I assumed it was faulty pumps. The third time seemed more like a faulty vehicle. I'm new to the hybrid world and new to lexus so some adjustments I've made seem silly. I'll be slowing down the pump on my next fill up.

Exactly what I do, also without any issues.

The dealership says this is common on hybrids because of low emission design. Due to the low emission requirements for hybrids the air takes longer to escape the gas tank so the pump is pumping too fast for the tank to catchup so it overfills. I was told to slow down the gas pump to allow the vapors to escape. In a nutshell, babysit the pump...

Has anyone had any luck with a fill method or replacement part? I'm new to lexus products and I can't say I'm impressed at all. Too many small issues for a 65k vehicle.
That dealer told you a steaming pile of horse crap! This is not normal, nor is it safe. Contact Lexus corporate & start a case. Take it to another Lexus shop, if possible. What part of Texas are you located?

I agree. I just put it on the max setting and let it rip. I have never had fuel spew out and never had to babysit the pump, on this or any of my past Lexus hybrids. Same with the two Priuses I owned before the first Lexus. Just pump like any other car.

Random question -- were those three fill ups all at the same pump?

On the hybrids the emissions are different and so is the gas tank and filler line. If you open the gas door and do not add gas within 30 minutes you cannot then add gas. You have to close the lid and reopen it. All of this has something to do with a valve that actuates to keep vapors from escaping on a hybrid. Perhaps the valve is stuck in some sort of a middle point where gas cannot freely flow into the tank. Look at this at 3:30 minutes.
I have had the situation where when I press the gas door it will not open for some time, which I think this video explains the reason, but I have never had a situation where the tank will not fill or the gas backs up. I for sure would see if the dealer can check or replace the vapor valve.

On occasion when it’s hot & I have driven more than 10 miles or so (car is fully up to operating temperature), there is a few second delay opening the fuel door, but that’s all that happens. No splash back or filling issues.

No, they were at different pumps but same station. I'll try another station next week.
