Mechanical Sound When Putting into Reverse or Park
Hi all,
Searched around but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
My car is a 2017 RX350 and I noticed a mechanical whining sound when placing my car into Reverse or back into Park from reverse and lasts about 1 second. It doesn't make the noise when Im putting the car into Drive.
The sound is coming from the bottom somewhere, I couldn't pinpoint exactly where. It almost sounds like the side mirror moving in and out or like an electric drill. Thats the best way I can describe it.
To be honest, it sounds like something that's "supposed" to happen, but I really don't know.

Anyone else notice this or have any ideas?
Thanks.
It's the electronic parking brake. It's located to the top left of the shifter, and if you see a light above the AUTO button, it means the electronic parking brake is engaging every time you put your vehicle into Park or disengaging when you move it out of Park.
