Default Muffler Delete

I have a 16 RX, if I take out the muffler just to see how it sounds. Would it do any damage & create a check engine light? Will it be easy to put back? Thank you.

Why would you even think about doing this? It would sound like any 6-cyl missing its muffler.

I'm assuming you're referring to mid-muffler delete? I'm not positive if there is a mid-muffler on an RX, but if there is you shouldn't get a check engine if you were to replace with a straight pipe. You wouldn't do any damage, and it would take a muffler shop roughly 30 minutes to cut out your muffler and weld a straight pipe. It would sound a little better, but nothing crazy loud. Replacing the stock resonator would be the next step. If you're going to try anything at all, start small and slowly work your way through mods to get the sound you like.

Doing all of this on an RX doesn't really make sense given the type of vehicle

I disagree. Lexus seems to be concerned about the exhaust sound, otherwise they wouldn't have added a sound generator.

I like the sound of the Fsport, but I sure wouldn’t want my RX to sound like the car in that video.

I personally don't like it now, but when I was a teenager...yep!

The sound generator essentially enhances the sound in the cabin, virtually no change when listening to the car outside and has no function with the muffler system at all. The tone of the generator is nothing like the sound you get when deleting a mid-muffler, which would be more raspy.

OP must like noise(?) It won't give high performance car sound by just taking off the muffler, LOL! Out there many cars sounding like mosquito running around but they don't run fast. Kids trying to imitate real thing, it ain't gonna make any difference but making annoying noise.

The OP asked "if I take out the muffler just to see how it sounds. Would it do any damage & create a check engine light? Will it be easy to put back? Thank you"
Where did you get the idea that he was like a kid asking for more performance??

Op can chime in to clarify, I guess. Probably taking muffler off will lower the back pressure but I don't know how much.
