Used my new Nav for the first time today and it sent me on a crazy route continuously avoiding all toll roads . I couldn't find any setting to cancel the "avoid toll roads " setting
the only way to access the settings that allow toll roads etc is to set a destination and then it is accessible as an option .... once you change it stays for all destinations
or maybe trying to save time by letting the traffic algorithms guide them..
Only true if you enjoy a much longer scenic route. I used Navi on the weekend to go upstate to a remote farm. RX told 1hr 40 mins. Google maps got me there in 1 hour. RX Navi is not on point with traffic either - it's either too late to alter route or it uses predictable algorithm vs actual traffic conditions. Plus when it does detect a better route and it asks you what to do, the pop-up menu is not clear enough to appreciate the difference in time, so I just say no.
Google map is also not ideal, especially when it tries to reroute you through bad areas or a zillion local streets to save 5 minutes.

I use both google maps and waze for long trips. What do you use?
Sure, it's an edge case but there really are people who don't use smart phones on this forum (yes, really!). Hence they are reliant on actually using the car's navi.

I usually use both RX Navi and Google Maps at the same time as I do lose GPS signal on my phone sometimes, I only use Waze in the city for red light / speed traps. My only favorite thing about RX Navi is that it shows directions in the instrument cluster.
While Google has its own map data, Lexus and many smart phone apps use the same map, which I think is NavTech. Lexus lied in its FAQ (why Lexus map update is so expensive) claiming their map was much better.
OTOH, RX Navi really is not that bad. In my recent road trips, it gave me the same routes as the Google Map. And I found the traffic information was accurate. The re-calculated routes were very helpful.
