Purchased a 2017 model with the following:
- Premium pkg
- 20" upgrade rims
- 12" Navi

For $46k OTD (includes the $2,500 rebate).

Was this a good deal? DC/MD/VA area.

That's almost exactly what I paid. I'm in Baltimore.

MSRP and sale price before tax would help

We went for the test drive today and it was a good drive. So much so that we decided to buy it.

So we went back to his office and he asked me what I'd like to buy it for, basically. I told him $52K before the Lexus Cash $2500 discount as that is about 15% off the $61,224 MSRP. He told me he couldn't even go to his manager with such a low offer so we told him we were done and that we'd look elsewhere.

Our plan now is to email Dallas/Houston/San Antonio dealerships to see if they'll discount it to the 15% range.
I've had a salesman do that to me to.. He wouldn't take my offer to the manager so i bought elsewhere. A week later, the car I wanted dropped below what i had offered them SMH.

Thanks, everyone...it just looks like the Austin dealership doesn't want to sell a car.

UPDATE:

There's a dealership in Dallas willing to go from $59,824 to $52,498 ($7326 off MSRP, ~12%) and one in Houston willing to go from $59,824 to $52,124 ($7700 off MSRP, ~13%).

One of the Austin dealerships has a "grounded demo" with about 4700 miles with the same MSRP and is offering $8000 off MSRP. I'm not sure if that is enough of a discount on a vehicle with that many miles. What do you guys think?

Lastly, the other dealership in Austin has offered to match their prices if I show them a Purchase Order, which I have but am hesitant to show them for some strange reason. I can't quite put my finger on why.

Thank you for any feedback you guys have. I hope to close this deal tomorrow or Saturday.

2018's are coming on the lots. I think you should be able to do better than those quotes.
Try to target around $50.5k and see what happens.
Thank You.

Discounting has to be at that level now on 2017s with the 18s in stock.

UPDATE:

We bought our 2017 RX 350 tonight!!

Here are the numbers:

MSRP: $61,224 (AWD, Luxury Package, etc.)
Price before Lexus Cash: $56,024 (~8.5% off)
Price after Lexus Cash: 53,524 (~12.5% off total)

The Austin dealership ended up matching the best price that we found in Dallas and Houston. They even matched the trade-in offer we received from a local Honda dealership and CarMax for our 2014 Honda Accord trade-in.

All in all, I was disappointed with their initial Costco discount (only $16xx before Lexus Cash) but am glad that they ended up matching our best offer on both the purchase and trade-in. Delivery went smoothly until we didn't buy the Extended Warranty or Prepaid Maintenance from the Finance guy. He cut the price of the Platinum 84-month warranty from $3500 to $2500 immediately then cut it to $2400 after we declined. Then he lied about the value of the Prepaid Maintenance (up to 30K miles) because he said the every-5K service (tire rotation) was $99 and the every-10K service oil change was $199 and that we would end up saving money through 30K miles. However, I reminded him that the first 5K and 10K services are free and then later came to find out the oil change is $109 and not $199. So he super-inflated the value of the ~$1000 Prepaid Maintenance and I'm glad we declined.

Thanks, everyone, for your input. While I might have been able to get a slightly better price, this is the vehicle we really wanted (Obsidian/gray) and it seemed like inventory was shrinking by the day.

Best,

Martin
