I bought an ipod touch to fit in the center console holder and yesterday I set up the same song playing from the ipod and from my phone through bluetooth. Switching back and forth I found there is essentially no bass coming from the bluetooth input. The ipod sounds great. I tried this for several songs (I have the same playlist downloaded on both the ipod and my phone) and also switching the surround sound and auto level on and off. I have the standard audio system.
I think BT does not have wide frequency response. Good bass needs a frequency range as low as 60Hz. Most woofer crossover frequency is like 100Hz. If my home theater woofer is fed 60Hz signal it is
house shaking but not much audible to my old ears, LOL! I am a low brass player so know a thing or two about bass level sounds. Good amps have LFE output feeding woofer. Bass does not have good
stereo image. So most of time a system has one woofer. I always keep audio set up reference CD and video set up reference DVD to set up a system properly. Good stereo is enough to enjoy music.
Surround sounds are for simulating theater.

Agree, same goes for using a USB drive although not to the same extent. I have an old iPhone that I've loaded my music onto connected via USB so the iPhone "plays" the music and the car system just amplifies it. Using the USB drive the car system is "playing" the music and amplifying but the car system does not decode as well as the iPhone. Bluetooth is just crap basically, struggles with phone calls sometimes so don't expect much with music.

Yes, Bluetooth music is highly compressed and has little bass and high frequencies. Use USB connections for greater fidelity.

Hi, recently I brought RX350L AWD with premium package. The 12 speaker system sounds just fine but not that great... unfortunately ML speakers was not available even as an option in the premium package.
is there any way I can upgrade just my speakers to a better sounding one? I did an online search for speakers but found this wonderful forum instead. If this is a repeat question, please forgive me as I am new to this forum. Thank you.

Sure, you can always upgrade your speakers, but you will have lots of homework to do. The ML system has more speakers & a more powerful amplifier than the premium system & you will need to find out the correct ohms of each of the ML speakers. You will need to meet that ohm number or have a lower number, which is very expensive. I would suggest finding a wrecked RX with the ML system & use those speakers and/or amp. I’m not sure if the head unit is comparable either - lots of homework! Let us know what you find out.

I would suggest, going to automobile audio shop and talk to them about wanting better sound, they may suggest speakers, but they may also suggest adding an amp. See what they say.

Not sure why you would want to, but you could just turn off Bluetooth on your phone.

My rx300 standard audio system has a subwoofer(feels like it if actually not) under passenger seat that gives good bass. Does the ML audio system have one?
thanks.

Huh? Use your USB cord plugged into the console & turn the Bluetooth off.

I can run both music & maps on my phone thru the car infotainment system. It interrupts the music for directions & goes back to music. I guess I don’t understand what you are trying to do or not do.
