I don’t have auto beam leveling nor do I have auto high beams.
Oh, my! I hadn't realized that Toyota ever had an LED headlight system that didn't have standard auto beam leveling - at least not on Lexus brand vehicles. I now see it is in the cold weather package for standard headlights. WTF does beam leveling have to do with cold weather? Dang, even our 2012 Prius LED headlights have standard auto beam leveling and it doesn't have any kind of cold weather package.
And now I see that auto high beams was part of Lexus Safety System+ which was optional for the RX in 2016 and didn't become standard for the RX until 2017. Bummer, I love that feature.
It seems like all you can do is adjust your headlights down a little and/or to be considerate of oncoming drivers who you are obviously offending by not retaliating with your high beams.
You said: “ I prefer to leave the fog lights on all the time, I better see the pot holes as I drive to avoid them. We have a lot of those on our roads.”
Same here - it sounds like the RX headlight are crap, no matter what style you choose. We have potholes & deer here & almost no fog. I would call them more driving lights than fog lights. Aren’t fog light supposed to be yellow? Anyway, I use both low beam & driving/fog lamps. People still flash with the fogs on, so I might as well try to see all can see.
I drove in fog (which we get often in the fall) and they are effective, it increases visibility of the road..
Some use yellow just for the fact that it increases contrast to the eye. But they don't much use that color nowadays...
I find that when I use the fog lights, it lights better the road close to the vehicle where the normal head lights leave a dark area up close. And they also light a bit wider than the normal headlights. This is maybe why we get flashed...
We have a '16 350, Bi-LED Headlamps with Adaptive Front Lighting System package. We purchased it in February 2016. At that time, and for many months to come, getting flashed at night was common enough. Now 3 years later, brighter headlights have made their way to many vehicles and the flashing is pretty minimal. These lights, IMO, are bright and work well. We had a '13 RX as well until recently, it had factory HID on low and halogen on high beams. Parking the vehicles side by side, the LED's went farther and brighter throughout.
What is the different between the LED projector setup (that received marginal from the IIHS) and the Bi-LED Headlamps with Adaptive Front Lighting System package(AFLS adjusts the height of the lights, I believe), that they rate differently? Surprised the triple-beam, which is an upgrade, fared worse than the Bi-LED.
It really comes down to simple physics. Most LEDs just are not as bright as an HID bulb, so they use a magnifying lens to compensate. Anytime a light is magnified by using a lens, it distorts it & causes scattering of the light that oncoming drivers see as glare & what the driver sees as dim areas & sharp cutoffs. I had the old HID bulb inside of a non-magnified lens setup & it was far superior to any magnified LED. Lexus really needs to rethink their crappy lights. Ever notice how German vehicles have different headlights? There is good reason & science behind that.
2017 RX350 Headlights Adjustment for Brightness/Height
Has anyone had their headlights adjusted on their 2017 or like model RX? I am constantly getting flashed by people who think I have my high beams on. I forgot to mention to the tech last time I took it in, so I'm not sure if they can adjust them "down" more so they aren't so high? Of course that would mean I lose some light, but I'm the one being blinded by multiple people flashing me at night and impairing my sight when they do.
2017 Bi-LED headlamps.
Somewhere on this forum is the guidance on how to adjust the headlights on the Gen 4 -- I know, because I used it. Step 1 is to go to Lowe's and buy a phillips head screwdriver that is about 16 inches long. My brief search attempt didn't find the guidance, but if you can find that post, it's not a difficult adjustment to do (once you have that loooooonnnng phillips head). Hint -- you can get by with the passenger side light a little bit higher than than the driver's side.

Thank you! I spent a good 45 minutes searching the forums earlier. Then I just came back and the forum from 2016 is there. I guess I didn't have very good keywords for the search. The instructions I did see, so thanks for the advice on the long screwdriver.

Before you start adjusting make sure the headlights are misaligned by going to the dealer and have them check it, 30 min affair.
Sometimes if you have LED other people think that they are misaligned because they are bright.

This doesn’t make any logical sense. If you go to the dealer for a headlight adjustment, they should be freak’n adjusted correctly! I’ve done this stupid dog & pony show ever since my 2016 was new. Apparently, they are NEVER correctly adjusted. “...misaligned because they are bright”??! How do you suggest that be fixed?? Even after the dealer adjusts them, I’m constantly flashed on two lane roads. I even had a highway patrol constantly flash me at a stoplight. I flashed him back & he never pulled me over. Right after I purchased this car, the headlight issue was horrible, so the dealer adjusted the lights down. They were so bad, that l couldn’t read any street signs at night. That was unacceptable. Back to the dealer I went to have them adjusted again.
This boils down to one thing - Lexus screwed the pooch! These are the 2nd worse headlights I’ve ever had. The worst ones blinded oncoming drivers & I couldn’t see anything either. This is a horrible FAIL for Lexus. There is good reason that headlights have now been included in the evaluations for top safety pick vehicles. I noticed that newer RX models have some kind of zooming/focusing feature, when the headlights come on. This is something that my 2016 does not have. I long for the days of my HID headlights where I could see at night & people didn’t constantly flash me at night. I honestly believe this should be a safety recall, but I don’t see that happening.

I don't have that problem, others do not have that problem, YOU have that problem so perhaps a look in the mirror or another dealer might help. How can you make such a sweeping statement that Lexus screwed-up!

I can easily make that statement for the following reasons:
1) RX is NOT a top safety pick BECAUSE of its terrible headlights
2) Multiple trips to different dealers for adjustments & the results are always the same! I’m still getting flashed, so there is nothing that I can do that different dealers haven’t done already. This is Lexus doing nothing to improve. I find it amusing that other brands have changed over their headlights completely to a system that dims down the driver’s side, so it doesn’t blind oncoming drivers. I’m fairly certain this will be my last RX.
