Snow Mode
Thanks for the video!
I did a day trip to Sierra, but the roads were rainy so I didn't get to experiment on the snow, but your video and post gives me confidence.
Were you using the stock all weather tires? Any issues with chain control? I noticed that my 350 doesn't have an AWD badge on the back.

Either your salesman lied to you that you have AWD or someone stole yor AWD bagde or the manufactuer forgot to install one. I once bought a brand new 2006 LS 430 but it had an SC 430 badge. I told the dealer of the mistake and he replaced the SC with the correct LS badge. The saleman and I both scratch our heads because we though something like this should have been spotted by quality control before been shipped from Japan to America.
Why does Lexus label AWD on some cars and not others makes one wonder what corporate Lexus was thinking.

Yes sir you are right i meant the GS opps. I regularly switch between both forum threads and screwed up. I meant the GS 350s have AWD if equipted. The 450h for both GS and RX made me confused the two.
LOL! I guess we can use the badge from the GS on the RX. The information about whether it's FWD or AWD is buried in the VIN. But there is a visual way to tell on the 3RX. FWD doesn't have roof rails, at least the early ones. We don't see many of those up north.
Lol, yeah, dont ever employ me as a emblem installer at your local assembly plant!

Also i tried braking hard on snow as well. The car stopped pretty good and it doesn't veer off the center much.
Yes those were stock all weather tires. I didn't encounter chain control so i can't comment on that. Its kind of hard to explain the confidence the car brings when trying to play around in the snow, but you'll just feel it.

Also, it wouldn't make sense for Lexus to put the AWD badge for the RX F-sport since it only comes in AWD.
Lexus seems to put the "AWD" badge on its sedans and coupes equipped with AWD, but not its crossovers or SUVs. Its always been that way.
As for the RX and AWD. Its true that the RX does not have a very robust AWD system. In fact, believe it or not its far less robust than what is on the sedans, which is actually very robust for a sedan. For the purposes of driving through snow though, the RX is more than adequate.

Definitely agree. I can count on my one hand how many times I've used snow mode in 17 years. I forget it's there. It's kind of funny, the RX with all that real estate on the back doesn't have an AWD badge where the GS and IS with far less room does. Not that I want one.
Here is a cool video from Russia showing how the 2016 RX's wheels slipping in powder snow. Jump to the minute 4:30, 11:20 and 15:25 of this video to see the slipping action. Throughout the video you can see additional footage of the RX moving in snowy roads. It is an rx 200t Luxury awd in a 4 cilinder 6 speed. http://www.lexus.eu/car-models/rx/rx...Specifications
