As an afterthought to the last post. I also want to cover the spoiler above the back window especially wrapping around the back edge. It looks like that could be suceptable to scratching while pulling on the cover.

Default Clear bra price/worth it?

How much you think it will cost with parts and labor for a clear bra for 2017 RX F sport? Was debating if it’s even worth it and can you see it at all? Never had a clear bra on any car I’ve owned. All opinions welcome!

We travel to the Northern Sierras, Mammoth Lakes, and the I-15 NB, and US 395, have a lot trucks both ways so rock chips are a given. About two weeks ago I had PPF professionally installed on my ‘19 RX 350L. The product used was Xpel, and the installer was Eddy at Autosheild in San Diego. I had the bumper facia, mirrors, headlights and about 1/3 of the hood done. Beautiful work by Autosheild and, IMO, worth the cost of $598 for the layer paint protection. If you’re thinking about PPF, do it before the front end and hood get chipped up. In the attached photo you can see the line across the hood where the PPF stops. The line is nearly invisible out in the daylight. You can apply PPF to the entire hood if you want, or the entire front end. Just cost extra $$. Definitely recommend a clear bra if you don’t like rock chips.

I'm having an Xpel clear bra installed today, having taken delivery of my wife's 2019 RX350L last week.

The cost is $850 here in Boston. There are cheaper installers, but Jeff at Wheel Dynamix in Natick, MA did my 2014 Audi S5 five years ago, and my M3 a few years before that. He's good.

I can tell you from experience that Xpel does a great job protecting the front end from chips, and in 5 years it's still almost invisible. There's normal wear and tear from Boston winters, but I'm happy with the product.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! So it only protects from rock chips? What about the bumpers if someone hits me when parking ?

is there any special care required to have a clear bra? I can just use regular car washes and treat my car like it’s not there or are there things I have to watch out for ?

The PPF may prevent paint transfer on a light touch with another car. If someone hits you, no. It’s not armored plating. Don’t wash the car for about 3 days after the installation; check with your installer. You can apply wax or ceramic over the film.

Got full front wrap , a pillars, front of moon roof, rear bumper, headlights, door edges here: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/xact...rio-5?start=90

You can see my car there too.

Worth it totally. It's not a magic protector. Had something hit my bumper and it cut the xpel a little. I also was on the freeway and some truck must have spilled gravel everywhere. When I checked my xpel was all dented but a few days later it was back to normal.

Makes car washing so easy. Just have to maintain with carpro reload sealant once every few months. Bird poop doesn't etch into the paint either. WORTH

my xpel installer said to avoid car washes with the powerful blower, and to use liquid Turtle wax monthly. So far so good.
Recommend doing the full hood, not just half of it. That line looks awful, and wax will get caught in it.

Yea I was thinking if I’m going to do it I’m definitely getting the full hood or nothing. Don’t like the look or idea of half. What’s considered a decent price for the whole hood?

Whats the sealant for? I wonder what a full front wrap would go for in Brooklyn, probably twice what you paid. I deff want to do the whole hood if I end up actually doing this.

Paid $800 just hood, did not do around triple beam lamps or bumper.

Wow that’s insane for that I can repaint the hood down the line or wrap the whole car for $2000+. That’s way too expensive for just the hood. I really don’t see a point in wrapping the headlights.

Wrapping your headlights will prevent fading and hazing as I'm sure you've seen on many cars. We got our RX F-Sport wrapped on the front bumper(plus the front lip that comes with the Fsport and emblem), headlights and foglights with XPEL Ultimate plus for $600 total. He was a highly rated yelp mobile guy that came to our house. Wrap quality was very good edge to edge.

Beside fading and hazing it stops all the small pits on the lenses. The last car that I did not do the headlight lenses (three cars ago) with a lot of highway driving looked terrible especially with the lights on. Well worth the $75 to do both.

full hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, sunroof front flap, driving lights and headlights.
i went with 3m pro self healing with their paint warranty
.also did the front window tint as well.

(i can't see why someone would do a hood but not the bumper, the bumper is flat and right in the firing line.)
