I agree. I doubt that you could get that much coverage for $950 from any of the independent trim shops.
I would suggest, however, that you check to make sure that you would be getting coverage on the full hood, not just the front of the hood, and I'd also check to see how much more they would charge to do the full front fenders.
Dust (and wax) will often collect and look ugly along the line where the film stops, and getting full coverage of the hood and fenders eliminates that issue. Also, the additional protection is good. Not only can you get stone chips from other cars further back on the hood and fenders, but the areas on the fenders further back are vulnerable to chips that can be kicked up by your own front tires. Even if it costs a bit more, getting full coverage of the fenders (and hood) is, I think, worth any added expense.

thank you for this. didnt know this.
$950 for full hood and fenders is an excellent price.
i was quoted $1650 for full hood/fenders using expel ultimate with 10 year warranty.

asked if it is full hood and fender, if it is full hood /fender then it is an excellent deal. if it is only 18/24 inches of the hood and fender then you can get a better deal than $950.

In CA, it's much more expensive. Both the ceramic coatings and clear bras.
I'm scheduled to drop mine off on Monday for both and the clear bra- front full bumper, 1/2 hood, headlights, mirrors, fog lights, and 1/4 fenders, in Nano Fusion PPF is $1,300.

Not sure if you want to reconsider doing the 1/2 hood vs full hood. From what I heard and from what the shop guys tell me, over time, even though the protector protects against yellowing, when you remove the bra, you will notice a paint difference regardless of any type of ceramic coating. Maybe see how much extra it is?
I planned on doing the full front hood anyways since I've seen my old car with rock chips near the rear part of the hood.
Thanks for the advice. It's a bit too late now because it's already on and the ceramic coating is setting. I suppose I'll do it further down the road after I get to drive it a bit.
I've had XPel film on my 2002 BMW 530i, 2006 RX400h and new 2015 RX450h. All have been professionally installed and still look wonderful. I don't think I would dare try to do it myself.
.
Only thing I do when getting a new car. Professionally have it installed. Just make sure film is wrapped on each edge. Worth the expense.
Just got my a full car wrap Xpel Ultimate Wrap with Austin Cedar Park Clear Bra for my 2017 Lexus RX 450H. I decided to get a full wrap because Texas is filled with rock and dirt trucks constantly moving on the highways where I am at. Totally worth it so far, I can't imagine how the car would look without it. Make sure you definitely compare prices in the local area, provide a warranty card, and wrap most of the edges (not all places can be wrapped), remove the emblems, wash and wax prior to installation, and a second inspection to remove all bubbles.
Full Xpel wrap
Welcome to ClubLexus, would probably help to know what area you're in, and what kind of coverages you're looking for. Full coverage hood and fenders, partial coverage, etc.
I purchased the kit myself and did full frontal, polished, and coated with cquartz. Price was way cheap as I get directly from vendors and have been detailing forever.
Long story short, I wasn't goig to do unit 1K miles in I had large piece of road debris hit bumper and mar the right side. After I polished out I did all the work.
I used SUNTEK PPFC and came out gorgeous as usual. AND also to note we took the car on a "road trip" as I worked from TX to FL, then from TX to WI. So about 15K Miles later in two months my wifes car still looks better than new.
With this technology I feel for the price, value it retains, and level of protection how can anyone that sets aside bidget for such vehicle not do. From snow, gravel, road debris all across the driving scenarios we run in the single most important investment you can do for excellent return.
