Is it a good deal you think?
What is the selling price and money factor? Any dealer doc fee? Trade in involved?

I agree, this is the second time I've gone the special order route. No regrets.

Special Order is fine but then I am locked in and have no negotiating room left :/

What do you mean? I got a discount on my special order. It might not be as much as an RX taken off the lot but it's better than some dealers who flat out say 'no discounting' on special orders. Their loss.

Meaning if I find the car at another dealer, I am stuck waiting for the special order and yes, lack of flexibility in negotiating. Stock on hand is much more easily discounted than anything you order!

I agree and disagree.

In-stock vehicles are always going to have more headroom for discounts, as every day the car is on the lot, the black ink is slowing turning red.

Orders, at least for Lexus are typically sticker only. However those who are persuasive can of course get a discount or two depending on what the dealer wants for that particular time. End of month one more sale vs beginning of the month who gives

If you do special order or even regular off the lot, the idea is to negotiate a refundable deposit. If they wont do that refundable part, I would steer clear unless of course the deal being offered is a once in lifetime 30% off sticker deal

I had a dealer say they would refund my deposit if I wasn't happy with the 450h F-Sport. But they weren't discounting special orders. We're not talking $5K which is what Tesla wanted to reserve a spot for the Model X. My dealer asked for $500. Guess you'll have to expand your search area, gonzalu.

If you are special-ordering a car ... Then you will be asked for a deposit. No dealer will order a car with options catering to a specific customer and not ask for some "security" so that they aren't stuck with the car. However, deposits are refundable unless you signed a contract saying otherwise or if you order some obscure color combination (i.e. Red car with orange leather seats or something weird like that) they'll try to tell you out otherwise but stick to you guns if you haven't done the latter.

Should I be worried that my dealer didn't order my car? They never asked for a deposit and I never bought a car from him before.

It''s depend on dealer. Not every dealer will ask for deposit, but it's good idea to asked for order confirmation.

If it's a special order they will ask for a deposit and give you a confirmation page with whatever price you agreed to pay once the car is delivered (i.e. $1000 off MSRP or Invoice, etc)

If they didn't ask for a deposit, most likely they may have a car in route that they will sell to you. Again, the salesman needs to confirm this and if it was indeed a true special factory order.

Good for you... how long did it take you to get your car from initial order to delivery? I'm still waiting on my 450H F Sport order.
