Just picked up RX 2016 with ML stereo what is the best option for Apple CarPlay. Has anyone any experience with this item from Amazon.

 

These are okay... better quality ones out there. BeatSonic USA being one of them and is approved by Lexus.

 

I have the Grom Vlite 2 in mine. Works good. Has Carplay and AA. Have their better unit the VLine 2 in my Odyssey. They usually have good sales this time of year too.

 

Grom happen to be local in Dallas I have sent them a message yesterday. Btw what's the different between the two Vlite and Vline

The Vlite2 is CarPlay and AA only, nothing else. The VLine 2 is more of an Android based tablet that has the Google Play store on it. So, in addition to Car Play and AA you can add just about anything from the Play store on there. Netflix, YouTube, or add Waze, Maps, whatever you like directly on the interface outside of CarPlay. So if you wanted to watch a movie on Netflix while you are waiting for someone in the parking lot you should be able to do that. Its similar to what the automakers are transitioning to a Google System. Honestly when we put it in our Odyssey in 2020 all they offered was the Vline and I didn't want anything more than Car Play or AA so haven't used other features it offers. You have to be able to get internet to the unit to do those other things. So when it was time to put it in the Lexus they had just come out with the VLite and that was exactly what I wanted. I will say it isn't a perfect system but it does what I want it to do, retains factory features and for any issues that have come up Grom has been great at getting anything resolved.

 

I recommend the Beatsonic brand. They are a company based out of California and they have amazing technical support. They are also the only brand to be approved by Lexus. The CarPlay interfaces on Amazon may be attractive due to price but good luck with getting technical support if you run into issues.
