Default Mystery Remote starting

I have just bought a 2016 RX 350 Fsport-3 that I love........The only issue I have is that within 3 months ,it's the 3rd time it starts in my garage with the 2 key fobs hanging on the kitchen wall.Is it possible that the previous owner still has the remote start on his cell and pressing the button ?

Weird and dangerous. I can barely get my phone to remote start the car when im standing next to it. No way i could do it from my couch miles away.

Does the car have an aftermarket remote start? Canadian RX in those years did not come with Enform, hence no factory remote start on them.

Would it be possible that thieves have tagged you car and have already a cloned key, searching for the car?

I tought about that but,it's 8 years old already. Why steal an old car with 75K miles on it? and the key fobs are from Lexus . Maybe in 2016 Fsport had remote start?

Wow, that's dangerous. I'd either wrap both fobs in foil or get one of those foil bags and keep your fobs in that, then see what happens. If that solves it then one of your fobs is defective. If it still happens, perhaps one of your next-door neighbors has a fob that matches yours? (not sure if that's possible)

Enform was introduced in Canada in 2020 I believe.

I have a 2016 F sport and can confirm that it does not have enform or fob enabled remote start, unlike the USA models.

On the age, 2016 to 2022 look very similar. Aside from front bumper changes with fog lamp the rest looks very similar. Hottest sought after car in Ontario and Quebec by thieves.

As long as you have a Lexus account and registered your vehicle and have control, no other account will work. (or should not work).

However, this is a bizarre problem to say the least. I would give Lexus a call and they should be able to track from the logs where the signal to start the vehicle originated.

The only other thing I can think of is a faulty starter solenoid. There have been reports of folks having their cars start and isolated to a solenoid issue.

The Enform question is only part of the equation. A 2016 model would have used 3g wireless service, which was discontinued in the US. Did Canada drop 3g as well, because if they did, that would also rule out a factory remote start. Obviously, that doesn’t rule out an aftermarket system.

This would be very concerning. It may be worth the cost to have the dealer take a stab at diagnosing this one.

But if the starter solenoid somehow shorted, it would crank the starter motor…but the car shouldn’t start, as there still wouldn’t be any power to the engine’s controls itself.

Canada never had the old Enform. Enform was introduced in Canada in 2020 i think.

you can easily disable or put the fobs to sleep using a button press..
To enable Sleep Mode on your Lexus Smart Key: Hold Lock Button down while hitting the unlock button twice.

You're right! I forgot that. That would be perfect to see if it's his fobs causing it, or a neighbors.
