Picked up the car again today, service note says replaced torn seals on transfer case and transmission. Came home lifted the car and it's still leaking. At this point I'm no longer mad, I'm laughing at the situation. They also drove my car for 70 miles not really sure what's going on.
its good to report it to the Lexus dealership. But, a seep or leak will not in and of itself cause the tranny to fail. Just check the fluid level periodically and top it off.
there is a procedure for checking and changing the ATF. It does require a method for monitoring the ATF temperature which can be done a couple of ways.
Relatively simple if you have the correct OBDII and are don't mind DYI.

See post #148 for written procedure as well as video of the whole check and change process.
I think what daddio was implying in his question is that there is no "easy or convenient" way to periodically check the level of your transmission fluid.

I understand....since everyone decided to get rid of the dipstick.
But if I was worried about ATF level, I would check periodically. If it is just a weep then it would not be very often and if you DIY your car anyway it might add only a little time to an oil change or brake job.
I hate that they removed the dipstick but you have to sell service and new vehicles.
