The pano sunroof on our 2016 4RX is on its way out. Sunshade only closes on the driver side but the passenger side doesn't close. We decided to have the entire roof tinted and to not operate the sunroof anymore. To clarify, it's only the shade that is faulty; the glass roof itself is fine. We occasionally have friends/family driving our car and are afraid we'll forget to mention not to touch the roof - which may result in a $8K repair (remind me never to get a pano roof!).
I tried pulling out the assembly whichhouses the sunroof switches to see if I could disconnect anything to prevent the sunroof buttons from working if accidentally pushed - I was only able to stop power from powering the entire assembly (including the dome lights) which isn't a good solution.
I'd rather not stick tape over the roof operation buttons. Any other ideas?

There should be a 20A sunroof fuse you can pull out in the fuse box. It would be the fuse box in the engine compartment. Mine is labeled "S/ROOF NO.2" but I don't have the pano roof so yours might be a little different. Give it a try and see if it works.
I had a Pano Sunroof on my 2020 RX450h "f" Sport and heard many horror stories about the Pano Roof sliding shade inside cover and the "Tempered" glass used by most manufacturers. I only operated the inside sliding shade cover about 3 times during the 2 years I owned it as I did not trust it to continue to function properly. I also heard that the Pano glass was "tempered" glass and not "laminated" glass as is the windshield and driver's and passenger's windows. Result, is if "Pano" glass is broken from an object (hail or rock, etc.) it will shatter into numerous small pieces and not hold it's integrity. I choose not to have a "pano" glass installed on the 2022 Rx450h that was ordered and delivered 29 September 2022. I ordered the normal Sunroof.

You're a lifesaver! That worked perfectly. Mine is labelled the same and only impacts the sunshade, not the glass roof itself. I can power the roof but the button for the shade is not operational anymore. Thank you @jcg0324 !
