Default Coolant drain plug locations on the engine block

I wanted to drain and refill my coolant today and was able to easily drain the radiator and the one drain plug directly behind the radiator; however, I couldn't ever locate the 2nd drain plug. I researched it and spent a good hour searching unsuccessfully from many angles. Supposedly the 2nd drain plug is located on the driver's side of the engine? If anyone could point me to the correct location, I would be so grateful! Thanks in advance.

You don't need to bother with that. You have drained enough coolant already. You will never get it all out anyway. As stated by the Car Care Nut on youtube, and he is a Toyota Master Tech, it is good enough to drain your radiator and refill the system. That will refresh your coolant with enough new coolant to protect everything.
Look at his video for a great way to bleed the cooling system.

Thank you so much Clutchless for your quick response and helpful information. When I get a used vehicle, I always try to replace all of the fluids and be as thorough as possible with all of the maintenance. Sometimes you just never know what someone did to a vehicle or if they even used the correct fluids. I really appreciate the help.

That is a good idea, but I would suggest a bit more. Get hold of the documented maintenance history. Usually Lexus owners take their vehicle to Lexus dealership for the first few years. Look for the gap and slowly check the other items listed in the required maintenance. If in doubt that certain item has been overlooked, take care of those. You can interpolate and do the maintenance a bit early.

Following up on Salim's recommendation, here is a link to the Lexus Drivers Site. It is actually run by Lexus. Join for free and enter your vehicle's VIN. Then you can see the dealer service history, the factory build sheet that identifies options etc. You can enter your own maintenance too!

I recommend you look at some of our transmission fluid change threads before attempting to change it as there are a few quirks due to the lack of a diptstick. And it is not really forever fluid. You should change it around 50 or 60 thousand miles if you plan to keep it over 100,000 miles. If you just scroll through a few pages of the forum you will probably see one or 2 transmission threads. Also the Car Care Nut has an excellent video or 2 on changing it and other maintenance stuff.
