Default 3rd Drain Plug

Does anyone know how to find the 3rd coolant drain plug near the top of the V8? In the service manual, the picture shows one drain plug at the bottom of the radiator, one drain plug on the driver's side of the engine, and another near the top of the engine beside the filler plug towards the driver's side of the engine. Fantomd put some great picutures in the thread "removing the outside rear view mirror glass." It's just that I still can't find the dadgum thing. Even with a picture. Are there any mechanics that can interpret the picture for me???? Please....

Default coolant change

I plan to drain my coolant from the radiator drain **** and refill . Do U know how many percent of the coolant are being changed this way? Is this good enough? or should I ask the dealer to flush it which cost a lot
Oh By the way anybody know where is the '91 LS engine drain plug located?

Draining the radiator is not enough, all the engines are about the same up until 97. There is a drain plug on the side of the engine (drivers) side.... check out all the pics in the following thread:

Lexozz,

Where is that top drain ****? The one that appears to be beside the filler cap.

from your post:
"In the service manual, the picture shows one drain plug at the bottom of the radiator, one drain plug on the driver's side of the engine, and another near the top of the engine beside the filler plug towards the driver's side of the engine."

It's not up near the top beside the filler plug, as you are interpreting the drawing, it's down on the block, it's just that perspective view is misleading.

Both the plugs on the block are about the same level, on the cylinder wall/block area; a long extension and socket will run right through some things and gets the drivers side, while on the pass side, you can see it pretty clearly and use a wrench.

It's easy and I recommend draining all the plugs to get the most old antifreeze out. One thing I learned was be sure to fill up in the filler hole, and also really fill the reservoir so that when the system starts up that air pocket comes out, it took a while on mine. Maybe leaving the drains slightly open while filling then closing them when new fluid starts drippping will burp the air easier.
