AWD error/Trac Off/CEL after oil change and etc.
I've moved to a new area so crossed my fingers and took my 2012 RX350 to an express lube place for a routine oil change. 20 minutes away is the closest. No problems beforehand, about 107K miles.
Oil was changed, cabin filter replaced, and fuel injector cleaned. It was a Saturday morning. I drove 1/4 mile and spent some time getting my nails done then drove across the street to get dog food at Tractor Supply. Left TSC and after 50 feet the check engine light comes on along with the AWD and TRAC error messages. Less than a mile since oil change. But lube place now closed...
Called them on Monday to see when I could bring in to get code checked. Poor guys didn't have a code reader (rolls eyes). Said to take to O'Reilly across the street. When I got irritated they said was probably air in the line or whatever (yes, I am clueless) after fuel injection cleaner whatchamacallit. Said to get code reset and life would be great. I work from home so a friend reset and all was good for 30 miles... Then lights came back on.
Boring story, I know, but after doing some research it seems it is an O2 problem rather than AWD?
When they showed me the cabin air filter, which I knew would be gross, it seemed to have something attached to it. Tech had no idea what it was but said he would put it back on. I just removed the cabin filter to see and it was no longer there. Anyone know what it was? White, maybe 2x4, yellow marks on it I think. fit into the filter pleats. Also, the arrow on the filter was pointing down and the owner's manual said should be pointing up. And the cover wasn't on properly (rolls eyes again). I flipped the filter and closed everything neatly. No change.
I'm going to go get the code read tomorrow. Only name-brand dealership in the area is Chevy. I'm a couple of hours away from any Lexus dealer and at least one from Toyota.
If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear. Otherwise I'll take it 200 miles to my trusted Lexus dealership, knowing I'll have to rent a car for a week. Thank you!

You don't need a Lexus dealer, any Toyota dealer or a good independent privately owned repair shop can deal with fixing whatever the quick lube joint messed up. Your Lexus RX350 is basically the same as a Toyota Highlander mechanically. Many different Toyota and Lexus models use this same engine and the same cabin air filter fits most Toyota and Lexus models. So all shops are familiar with these devices.
Many of us have used Toyota dealers for repairs.
Have you checked that your gas cap is on tight? A loose gas cap will make it throw codes.
I am more concerned that these idiots disconnected a wire or failed to reconnect something when doing the so-called fuel system cleaning. Again a good local repair shop or Toyota dealer can fix this problem.
Regarding your cabin air filter what you describe sounds like the inner white seal cover for the cabin filter. This seals the filter compartment, then there is the black cover that fits over it to seal it from the glove box. Unless your cabin air fan is falling apart or a mouse built a nest inside.
See this:
Don't know what would sit on the pleats.
How does the A/C run? How does the vehicle run?
Also, the owner's manual says the A/C system should be set on recirculation before changing the cabin air filter, but most people don't know and don't do that yet it does not seem to cause any problems.
There should not be anything else sticking to your cabin air filter and the arrow direction does not make that much of a difference, many people put them in wrong and it does not really change air flow, besides it should not create any warning light problems.
Or you just may need a new battery as low voltage from a dying battery can trigger codes.
If you want guidance finding a local shop, start with those in this link of shops recommended by listeners of the old Car Talk Radio Show. You can enter your city and state. I then suggest you cross check any candidates with Google or Yelp as some of the reviews are more than a few years old. https://www.cartalk.com/mechanics-files

Lesson learned - stay far, far away from these quick-lube places from now on. It is quite common for some of the kids working there to have been flipping burgers for a living just a couple of weeks ago, especially during the pandemic. The last thing you need is for someone who knows less about your vehicle than you do screwing it up....
Thank you! Yes, I did check gas cap a few times. Should have mentioned that. Vehicle runs like a charm. A/C great. Just the annoying control panel lights! I'll take it to Toyota.
Same thing happened to our 1st gen RX.
When they checked the air filter a vacuum hose was pulled loose.
Soon after, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree.
