So my 2011 RX has always had a sensitive battery even after changing them. I can leave the lights on or whatever without it draining the battery. But where I live is pretty hot so this morning my car battery wouldn’t start my car. Well as I was leaving work, I put my car in reverse and all of a sudden, my car went nuts and the power steering went out. Even when I got home, same thing. Any body know what’s going on?

Could be the battery if possible have it load tested. A failing battery will make the cars electronics go haywire, same can happen if the terminals are not tight and clean.

This may not be the issue faced by you .... Auto trans vehicles have a PRND switch attached to the shifter/transmission. PRND switch ends up displaying the gear position in the cluster as well as act as a safety switch to enable the starter in P or N position only.

i just got it changed last yearOriginally Posted by afpj
How old is the battery? Our batteries rarely last beyond 3 years here in the high desert.
If your battery is behaving like that and only a year old,
you may just have a bad battery. But if this is repetitive, check your alternator and consider looking for a parasitic drain.
