Default Supertech Oil?

My trusted Prius shop, now my trusted Lexus shop told me to buy the Supertech oil from Walmart. I checked and it meets all specs, dexos blah blah. Anyone with any experience with this oil?

I have topped up the Valvoline 10W30 conventional oil in my 1999 Ram 5.9-litre V8 pickup with Supertech 10W30 conventional oil before, but that 22-year-old Ram V8 can run on just about anything.

For my wife's 2015 RX350 I stick to Mobil One or Castrol Edge 0W20 full synthetic oil. As long as the Supertech oil you are considering meets the required specs, you will probably be okay with it. I just prefer to stick with better-quality oils in her Lexus, her Jaguar, and my Subaru.

Thanks. I've looked online since i posted and read many good things about this oil company. I'm going with it.

It is made by Warren Oil Company also known as Warren Distribution who is probably the largest private label lubrication oil company in the US. They sell under such names as Super tech, Costco Kirkland Oil, Amazon Basics oil, Meijer, Car Quest, Polar, Gumout, Craftsman,
and Mag One - I have been running Mag One full synthetic low viscosity ATF in my RX transmission for over 50,000 miles through 8 drain and fills and it shifts as good as the day I bought it!

I am currently running Kirkland 0w20 in my HS250h and the engine runs the same as when I used Mobil 1. Same mileage etc. They sell 2 - 5 quart jugs for about $25!

As posted elsewhere
Warren Oil is the largest independent lubricant manufacturer and marketer in the United States. Warren Oil markets it lubricants, both conventional and synthetic, domestically and internationally, under the WARREN OIL brand, the LUBRIGARD brand, the ITASCA brand, the COASTAL brand and the GOLD BAND brand.

Here is a link to the American Petroleum Institute site which lists all the names under which Warren labels products https://engineoil.api.org/Directory/...ompanyId=10297

Both Mobil 1 and Supertech Oil are:

Licensed by Dexos 1, which is the new standard for oil started by GM
Compliant with government-set safety regulation and environmental standards.
Categorized as synthetic automotive oils,
Perfect and well compatible with gasoline engines
Relatively durable

GM's new oil product, Dexos, consolidates its five prior recommended oil specifications into two blends: Dexos1 for gasoline-powered vehicles and Dexos2 for diesels. Now there is Dexos1 Gen2
Dexos® oils are formulated exclusively with synthetics or synthetic blends. Better antioxidant technology that keeps oil from oxidizing. Dexos® oils generally have a drain interval of up to 15,000 miles. Lower viscosity that holds up to engine combustion and heat better and longer than other oils on the market.
Dexos1™ Gen 2 has all the benefits listed above, plus improved oxidation and deposit control. In addition, this new generation protects engines against a severely damaging phenomenon known as low speed pre-ignition (LSPI). LSPI affects smaller turbocharged engines that are prone to deposits and pre-ignition problems. Although most vehicles are approved to use Gen 1, the new Gen 2 edition offers more advanced engine protection capabilities not found in Gen 1 oils.

SuperTech should be a viable oil to use, as well as generic oil from the auto stores. These oil are made by the same companies.

My case, I wait on sale or promoted sales/coupons to get my oil (whatever oil is on sale - name brand), equal to or lower price that the Wallyworld brand's price. Whoever is selling the lowest priced oil, gets my business.

This is what I use.

It’s sold locally and made by Citgo. On Black Friday, it’s on sale for $1.00/qt

Been using supertech synthetic in multiple vehicles for years. 142k on a 2012 Camry, 146k on an 07 Honda element, 120k on a 2008 rav4 v6, was at 318k on a 96 Camry before I let the TB go too far but even that engine was running clean with the supertech.
As mentioned above, made by Warren and meets all standards.

Any chance that higher end brands are using patented additives that make their products so unique?
