Parking Assist
I just purchased a 2011 Lexus RX350...great car. However, I don't see a feature on it called "Parking Assist". Is that a feature that has to be added? Or should my car come with that already?
Thanks
Thanks
There's a button on your steering wheel. Right side. It looks like a documents icon. Press that and then use the up down button to scroll through your options. One of them should be Parking assist. If it's off then click the up down button in the center to turn the feature on?
Maybe if you Google there should be a YouTube video.
Thank you NickSP for replying: I do have a Navigation System and I have tried the document button next to my steering wheel. However, And I scrolled with the up and down arrows but only two documents or options appear on my Instrument panel. I've tried going to my setup menu and clicking on Vehicle Customization, but it doesn't give me an option regarding sensors or parking assist. Yet the manual says I do, but maybe it means I do if I paid to have that feature. I thought I saw it appear in August when I first purchased the car, but I've played around with the buttons and maybe I need to set everything back to dealership? I don't. Know. I'm afraid to do that.
If you put in the VIN of your RX using the link below and then click on download, you will see all features & packages the car was sold with.

TO Rookie: Wow thanks I'll go there now.
To Driver: I meant to look and forgot, I will do that too.
Thanks for your help. Whether it has all the bells and whistles or not,, I love my Lexus. It's beautiful and has a navigations system and is an AWD. Just what I wanted.
Thanks again!

If your vehicle does not have parking sensors, it is possible to add aftermarket parking sensors. There are many of them available and you should consult with a car stereo or auto accessory shop about getting one installed. I think the cost may be under $500.
My HS250h, which I bought used came with aftermarket parking sensors which had an off/on switch.
Then after it was in an accident as someone in a BMW convertible rear-ended it, pushing it into an SUV, both the front and rear bumpers were smashed.
During the 3 month-long repairs, they replaced the parking assist with a different system (they could not identify the original one) which is on all the time and has a gauge advising of the distance before you hit something both front and rear. It sits on the dash to the left of the instrument cluster and is about 3 inches long by half an inch high. It also beeps when you are less than 2 feet from impact. The only problem is the system beeps when driving in the rain as the sensors get hit by raindrops.

I'm not sure why it took that long, but we had a rental car courtesy of the insurance from the guy who hit it. My wife was driving and unhurt, this was at very low speed in rush hour traffic. Repairs were a little over $7,000. They had to replace both bumpers, and a lot of related stuff in the front and rear ends. I recall she could drive home and the rear bumper cover then fell off in the driveway. We were able to claim a loss of bluebook value with their insurance company and got back the calculated loss of value from the accident which was about $6,000.
