Mine are .. any after market solution will have its quirks. I don't blame the aftermarket suppliers as each vehicle/model/time_of_production has its unique interface issues/requirements.
My life line is shutdown/start of vehicle, menu (next to mouse) button and AUX-USB button on the radio panel. listed in order of most to least severe. Going into reverse and back to drive at times requires the AUX-USB button [may need to be pressed repeatedly as the selector goes in sequence].
Another thing will help is if you can see the light on the add-on unit. I cant see mine but I recall it being blue in color and it stays on as long as the add-on unit is powered up [the unit unit does not turn off the instant you turn off ignition].
Talking about expectations, NAV and sound are my primary use of the add on. Phone and driving are strictly non-overlapping use. My dependable NAV is still with factory Nav. That is why I never considered solution which replaces the factory setup.

This has to be my primary Nav system now as the factory nav is no longer updatable in my 2013. I don't expect it to be perfect but it has to work most of the time. Hopefully its just a connection issue.
Didn't get around to it today but tomorrow I am going to check everything. Pretty sure they all said "click" but this does not seem to be a common problem so its worth a try.
I am surprised that I missed the half locked harness lever. However, I did reroute the cables a couple times to minimize wire crossing so I did undo the main harness a couple times and was distracted by phone calls and such. I tested the system and it did power on so I just put it all back together without doing an final check on the connections.
If you get a black screen on startup, you might want to turn on the "Short Sleep Cycles" in the VLine settings. Once on VLine UI, go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner.. Go to VLine Settings -->Vehicle Integration --> Short Sleep Cycles and add the checkmark there.
If that does not help, contact our technical team at https://gromaudio.com/support.html They will help.
Yes, please explain in much more detail what this option does!
Well I have have checked all the connectors and nothing is loose. If I connect the display directly to the original harness the original Lexus UI appears and works correctly. As soon as I plug the Vline harness back in the screen goes blank. The only was to recover is a power down of the Vline.

When you do have it working, can you make sure have the latest updates installed?
There can be a defect with the unit. Not Vline, but working on another car [GS] another after market unit had a defective connector. At times it would work and then it would fail. I was lucky to narrow the problem down as I wiggled the connector. Granted the connector could have stressed the board connector and a bad solder separated. The manufacturer happily sent me another unit and that was it.
If you are not making any headway and have tried to rectify/fix, then call the support. <= The sales price of the unit includes support and exchanges within warranty period.
Unfortunately I was greeted with a black screen again this morning so its not a solution at all. Its a really pity. Such an expensive unit its giving so many problems. I will disassemble everything again today to check for a loose connection. Otherwise I think I will have to take it out as I dont like not having access to the reversing camera. Also the last 3 days I have had no more response from their support which is also very disappointing.
Please message us your ticket number, we will check with our technical team. Please note that due to the Holidays, our responses might take slightly longer.
I must say GROM support is great. They have now narrowed it down to an issue with the EU version of the radio so they have developed an EU version of the software. Might take a little while to work out all the gremlins but I am happy to work with them to get to a stable version. I know how well the system can work as the one in my LS430 has been faultless since day one.
The latest EU update seems to solve the blank screen in the morning issue. The other issues I was having were caused by the display cable which had somehow got crushed during the re-assembly. Lesson learnt here is zip tie everything in a safe position before re-assembly, would have saved me a lot of grief!

Were excited to announce the release of VLine Elevate 5.2, bringing improved stability, smarter connectivity, and enhanced system customization. This update focuses on fixing key issues, refining audio and Bluetooth performance, and adding new features to improve your daily driving experience.
Why does the update to Android 12 cost $34.98 when we already paid $430 for the product, and Android is FOSS?
Thank you for following our announcements!
The Elevate 5.2 upgrade is compatible with the systems that run on Android 12 only. Android 12 update was released back in May 2024. It is paid upgrade for the modules that were sold prior to May 2024 because it is a major upgrade. The Elevate 5.2 update is free.
The VLine VL2 systems currently retail for $679.95
If you paid $430, most likely you have VLite VT2 or the first gen VLine VL1. You can contact us via web form at https://gromaudio.com/support.html to check what system you have and what upgrade options are available. We are happy to help!
My local stereo shop switched from Grom because some customers reported issues. They're now using USA Spec and haven't had any complaints. I've got USA Spec in my car and it's working great.
Interesting.
I just checked and USA Spec do not have any Android Auto integration modules for the 2010-2015 RX350 units or nothing at all it seem. Just the basic Bluetooth add-ons up to 2009.
Post an link to the company units like the GROM please if they exist or the one you claim to have installed in your RX350.
