RX270 fuel filter change disconnect batteryor pull fuse
Hi, My RX270 (australia) is due for a fuel filter change. 75000KM.
I have seen an excellent HowTo by pizzaman777 for a fuel pump change. He says to disconnect battery. But some of my settings can only be done by the lexus service people..
Is there a fuse for the fuel pump that i can pull that will not loose any settings.
Thanks

It is not necessary to change the fuel filter as it is part of the fuel pump. See this link to the Highlander forum as it is a mechanical twin. You can search that forum for more data. Why do you feel compelled to change it? Is your fuel pump broken? The fuel pump is inside the gas tank.

In past experience working on fuel injected systems, you need to pull the fuel pump relay and release the pressure carefully, somehow as it is under high pressure. I sort of recall pulling the relay, then cranking the car for a couple of seconds to relieve pressure. Then I could disconnect the fuel line. This was a long time ago and I suggest you find vehicle specific instructions.
Thanks for the reference to the Highlander. I even found a video of a melbourne (aus) mechanic changing the filter on a Kluger Highlander.
After a lot of searching over last couple of days I have found that Toyota have a fuel filter change in a number of cars in Australia that is not done in USA.
Camry, Kluger , Rav 4 .
Also some people have reported that a number of makers now have a filter the tank.
Don't know why.
In Aus the retail price of the filter for lexus RX270 is around $230. !
It seems quite a few people in Aus do not bother changing it as scheduled. Very tricky job to remove rear seat, remove pump and filter assembly , change the filter and then reinstall everything.
Also discovered that some VIN decoders based in USA get a different result for my VIN.
Other people have reported same issue.
Thanks again.
I would still like to know which fuse for the petrol pump in case I need or want to replace this filter one day.
I found this list of fuses https://fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-rx...010-2015-fuses
but it is not clear to me which one would be for the petrol pump.
Just realised, probably best to disconnect all power when playing with open petrol tank, petrol vapour, possible spark from any electrical contacts.

I like your approach about removing the power to the area under work, but why not remove the full power. The whole body (chassis) is a bare conductor. The inconvenience of loosing some presets is not such a big deal.

As I said in my post above, it is more likely your fuel pump can be powered down by finding and removing the fuel pump relay, which is probably located in the fuse box under the hood. That is how my old Mazda was wired. The owners manual or the diagram inside the fuse box cover will identify all the components in the box.
