Looking to buy a 3rd Generation RX 350 - what should I look out for?
So I’ve got a budget of 20k, would prefer it to be in the 16-18k range. Looking to get 6+ years out of it, preferably 8. My wife and I put 20ish thousand miles on a car a year. Sometimes More sometimes less
Would I be better off using my budget to get a newer model, a lower mileage model, or a mix?
Like, in my budget, I could get a 2015 with 80k to 90k miles, or a 2012 with 60-70k. Or I could pay closer to 16-17 and get a 2010/2011 with 80-90k on it etc.
So, is there a mileage or age when quality begins to start really declining? Im planning to take whichever used car to a trusted mechanic no matter the age/mileage.
What do y’all think?

In general I would expect issues start popping up after and around 100k provided the vehicle was not neglected and well taken care of. Can's speak about rust issues, but I see you are in TX.

Spend as much as you possibly can afford. Get the newest RX you can find with the lowest mileage. Search for RXs with the most options--lots of dealers (except Lexus dealers) have no clue about Lexus options, and don't increase the price--as they should--on loaded vehicles. Buy an RX from a rust-free state, like Arizona or New Mexico. Be prepared to travel a long distance to get the right RX. Use CARFAX or another similar service to get the vehicle's history--yes it will cost you, but may save you thousands later.

See if there's a CPO within your budget with the features that are important to you. Also, negotiate with other things like upgrading the map, trailer hitch, tires, etc. My 2011 had 110K km and the CPO work was about C$4,500 that didn't get added to the price. But I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years at this dealership.
Happy hunting and looking forward to your update.

Regular Maintenance!
I had a 2010 RX350 with 120k on the ticker. Had no issue whatsoever with it. Loved it so much that I deliberated between keeping it or upgrading to a 15 (HATE the front ends on the 16 and newer). Decided to sell it and purchased a 15 F Sport. Love it! Check for regular fluid changes and maintenance and you should be fine.
Good Luck. 👍🏽
