I have a 2011 Lexus RX350 and have been searching these forums and general Google for an answer. I am intending on painting the interior of my headlight and hence I need to remove the head lights. I however cannot find any instructions on removing the headlights. Can this be done without removing the bumper (as it looks possible here ==>
) or do you have to actually remove the whole front bumper to get to it? I have not seen any clear instructions on how to remove the headlights nor have I seen a definitive statement indicating that you have to remove the front bumper to get the lights out.
It's easiest to remove the bumper. Trying to get them out without fully removing the bumper would be a pain (and you'd end up having to pry it away from the lights and risk damaging things).
The front bumper must be removed in order to remove the headlights, there is a retainer on each headlight that the bumper slots into, the bumper must come off. To remove the front bumper, there are a number of trim clips on the top of the bumper, and underneath the bumper that need to be removed. There are two screws on the lower splash shield that need to be removed to kind of lower the middle splash shield. In regard to the sides of the bumpers, there are trim clips on the exterior of the bumper sides... underneath there is a bolt, and up top there is a screw that fastens a removable clip for the ends of the bumper. Maybe I can take some photos tomorrow.
