Default Oil Cooler Lines

Is there problems with oil cooler lines rupturing like on the highlander 3.5's? Did they fix the problem with reinforced lines what yearson RX350's? Thanks

It is exactly the same as the Highlander and this has been covered in other threads. Takes the same part. They are metal lines replacing rubber hoses.
Lexus issued a useless extended warranty. Useless because when the hoses rupture, you are usually on the road and all the oil spews out and your engine is wrecked almost at the same time the oil warning light comes on. Your best long term preservation action is to replace the hoses now paying out of your own pocket. The purchase price is not high and any repair shop can install them for less than the dealer. The only installation trick, having replaced my own following the Highlander instructions, is you have to remove some of the studs in addition to nuts in order to have enough room to remove and replace the rubber hoses ( it is a pair) with the new metal ones. A Torx bit fits over the studs allowing you to unscrew them.
Also you do not have to drain your oil.

Thanks my buddy had this happen on the road. I am on the LS forum alot and thought I saw something about this, I guess he drove real slow down the road to the dealer and then checked dipstick and no oil, so his engine might be wrecked? 160k miles

Probably will need replacement. Once the oil light appears you always need to shut down the engine ASAP! Even then, at road speed it may be too late. Driving slow with no oil is as bad as driving fast with no oil! At least it ran until he got there! If replacement is needed, and considering the mileage, I may walk away from the vehicle, or put in a used motor. I would not waste money on a new one, it would cost more than the vehicle is worth. Even getting a used one may not be worth it. You need to figure out the repair cost and compare to replacement cost for an equivalent vehicle.

Dealer changed mine today. For those not yet affected, if you're under 150K miles and you see seepage, Lexus will replace it for free.
This link has info on that non-recall service:

if it's not leaking, fastnoypi has a great DIY on replacing them yourself for < $100.
