3rd party source for cv axel replacement
I'm looking for recommendations for a 3rd party vendor to purchase the passenger side cv joint axel assembly for my 2010 Rx350 FWD. Lexus quoted $1054.00 for the assembly. But I'm finding much lower prices for reconditioned units online. Anyone have any experience with OEM spec. new or reconditions cv joint assembly? Thanks
Have you tried your luck through the salvage yards. I would not hesitate to pick one up from a flooded vehicle.
Other option is to rebuild ,, depending on what is wrong. I had a ripped boot [1st gen RX] and a kit from Lexus is not too bad [That was my preference over getting an aftermarket shaft].

Thanks Salim, Unfortunately, I am physically unable to do my own repairs anymore. That is why I'm looking for a source for the complete assembly. The cost for parts and labor by Lexus is beyond my means. But I have a reliable mechanic who will replace the axle assembly for $300 if I provide the part.
I have seen mixed reviews of the ones from Cardone who is the main aftermarket source of rebuilt axles. If there is another aftermarket source I would like to know. Raxles is a great one and I used them on a Mazda but they do not do Toyota/Lexus. Can always call Auto Zone or Pep Boys or Advance Auto Parts or O'Reillys or Car Quest Auto Parts.
Have you priced them from a discount OEM source such as www.myLparts.com or www.lexuspartsnow.com I think lexuspartsnow may give a CL extra discount of 5%.
I would contact these guys about a good used axle http://www.rancholexusrecycling.com/
Found this source for a rebuilt driver side front axle https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...placement.html Quality unknown
Quite a few rebuilt and used on eBay https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xlexus+2010+RX+350+front+axle.TRS0&_nkw=lexus+2010+RX+350+front+axle&_sacat=0
Several of the eBay used ones have very low mileage and look great. The prices are all over the place for them, so shop carefully!

lakelandtoyota. That's where I buy OEM parts. Just bought driver side axle for my hybrid. Dealer quoted me $842 before tax, I paid $604 with shipping out the door. I bought all engine mounts from the also. At least, I know it fits. I already have axle bought AM that was promised to fit and it does not, so now I am trying to cheapo it on ebay.
Bumping this thread to ask how long do the CV Axles last on our cars?
I had my RH replaced after it splashed grease all over at 119k miles... Never had a problem like this with Volvo or Acura, neither with other Toyota product. Should I consider replacing the drivers side too??

Once the boot is ripped, the grease is thrown out and lack of lubricant and inflow of dirt and moisture, destroys the flex joint.

You could have the boots replaced on the drivers side before they fail. If they replace the boots and regrease the CV joints the axle should last the life of the car. It is the loss of grease and intrusion of dirt & road debris that kills the axle. I would have an independent shop do this as dealer rates would be insane for this work. Any foreign car or Toyota shop can easily replace your axle boots. Make sure they get the trans fluid level adjusted afterward if any leaks out.

Ask the Honda guys how often they also work on Toyotas.
I did a search on Car Talk Mechanics files and found DL Automotive, a highly rated shop in Charlotte that works on Toyotas and many others. You should cross-check them on Yelp and Google. Here is a link. https://dlautomotive.com/
