My dealer trip was yesterday and the codes pulled for the SRS system were as follows:B1650 and B1785. Apparently this was not a warranty issue and I needed to pay the diagnostic fee and the recalibration test. May I get some opinions on this as my warranty does not expire for another 18 months.
Thank you in advance

If you have the OBD scanner tool, this may help. If not, it's informative to give you an idea just how much labor the dealership uses to reset your codes.

This is the message I received back from Lexus Canada; based upon their response any ideas on next steps?
Thank you for your reply. Please be assured that we certainly do not like to see our guests experience the frustration and inconvenience that are associated with unexpected repairs. It is the desire of Lexus Canada to provide sound, durable and reliable vehicles which will require a minimum of service and not only meet, but exceed our guests' expectations. However, there remain instances, such as you have encountered, where difficulties will arise. The Lexus Extra Care Protection (ECP) agreement you purchased covers the costs of repairing your vehicle when a difficulty arises as the result of a manufacturing defect experienced within the parameters of the agreement. Our commitment to you is to repair your vehicle according to the terms of your ECP agreement.Having said that, there are limitations, in terms of what is covered by the ECP.We would like to refer you to the ECP agreement that was mailed to you after purchase. As per the section "Obligations", sub-section "Repairs", coverage is for a repair that is required as a direct result of a defect in workmanship or material of a covered component that caused a malfunction of the vehicle. We would like to take this opportunity to explain that re-calibration of a component is not considered a manufacturing defect.Again in your ECP agreement, as per the section "What Is Not Covered", please note that diagnostic fees are not covered. We thank you again for taking the time to contact us and for allowing us the opportunity to comment. A copy of your correspondence has been forwarded to the appropriate departments within Lexus Canada for their information.

Salim,
Decided to bite the BULLET and invest in better auto diagnostic tool like "INNOVA 3150" as recommended by one of the "Club Lexus" member, Yeah .. The INNOVA 3150b will be shipped today from Indiana and will arrive on August 9, 2018. Post using this scanner and analysis of the results, I will post it. Wish me luck !! By the way, the dealer want $173.00 just to diagnose my Flashing Airbag light issue. And I am sure any mechanic shop will charge probable close to the number. Best Wishes,

Next time you have an issue with your SRS system, invest in the "INNOVA 3150b" diagnostic tool with ABS/SRS which will diagnose all your troubles including the Airbag System with code(s) displayed and explained to the user on its screen. This is what I purchased to check my SRS system on my RX300. You can use this to diagnose any existing and future faults with ease.

I second that. Any tool capable of doing ABS/SRS is way worth it.
Personally I use a Craftsman Scan Tool I purchased at sears (probably a rebranded tool). And it payed for itself already, it will tell you what is wrong, and if its a one off error, you can clear it and be done since your computer will store the codes and give you a warning light.

Tskyy, thanks for the reply. You're absolutely on the ball !! Such rebranded car scan tool, or any other ones, with ABS/SRS capabilities are worth the money. Especially when a Dealer will change you $173.00 just to diagnose and report their findings/codes. Anyone with minimal computer skill could operate it and save money on the long run. Plus, you can use the tool to diagnose any can you embark on purchasing. Thanks, and have a good day! Very satisfied with my investment in a "INNOVA 3150b", simple and easy to operate .Good Day...
