No. The alignment is not affected when replacing the rear shocks.

Rear shocks are not that expensive, from this link you can see the Monroe's are under $50 each at Rock Auto https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+absorber,7556
You could probably have your local gas station or any local mechanic install them in less than an hour. I replaced both of mine in my garage in less than an hour but I have been doing my own car repairs for many years.
Not much of an investment to see if you want to keep the vehicle.
i just traded my 2010 mini cooper s for this 2014 RX....no regrets whatsoever. very happy with the lexus. the roads here in phoenix are not too kind and i felt it in the mini, that and the mini was a money pit.

Default Kyb strut plus

Has anyone had any experience with putting on the KYB Strut Plus (complete strut assembly) on your 2010 or newer RX350? I recently purchased them from rockauto, and I'm looking for any info on what to expect and if I go with a different set up and return these. Any information would be helpful! Thanks!

Is KYB Gas Shock (part # 349203) better than OEM? It seems OEM is cheaper than KYB. Won't it be better to buy OEM since it's cheaper?

The best (in my opinion) is the Bilstein B6 series. They are approved for the Toyota Highlander and several members here have installed them on their RX350s this year with great success.

Bilstein B4 series are equivalent in ride and handling (but better) to the original struts and shocks.
Bilstein B6 series are equivalent to the F-Sport shocks and struts for those who want improved handling with a slightly stiffer ride. I have them on my RX and it rides better than the F Sport rear shocks I had before and no worse than the original ones.

However, if you want a better ride than the KYBs get the Bilsteins front struts that are listed for the 2010-2013 Highlander as it has the same front suspension as the 3rd gen. RX350. The B4 model is the same as your OEM. Part numbers 22282675 and 22282668
If you decide to replace the rear shocks with Bilsteins, you want the ones listed for the 2014 Highlander as it has the same rear suspension with shocks as the RX. The 2010-13 Highlander is different in that it has struts in the back.
Part No. Bilstein 19-282862

However if you just want a good ride, get the B4 series. Rock Auto has them as does Shock Warehouse and maybe Tire Rack. Look them up under 2015 Toyota Highlander with the 3.5 engine.

B4: Front Left: 22282835, Front Right: 22282842, Rear: 19282862

B6: Front Left 22282873, Front Right: 22282880, Rear: 24282901
thanks! looks cheaper than kyb too. But how come they don't advertise it would fit for rx350?

This is the best image of the shock I can find. The part on the right is different from the OEM. Any problem when installing it? Mine is an AWD.

I installed the Bilstein B6 rear shocks on my 2010 AWD RX350 and aside from them being a very tight fit in the upper mount, they fit fine and drive great. I actually found that on the passenger side it was easier to remove the upper shock mount, 3 bolts, then bolt in the shock, then put the upper mount back in. It was very tight and hard to line up. The driver side went right in. I think that was just unique to my car or that shock. Others have had no such complaints.

Bilstein does not list it for the RX350 because they have not tested it for the RX. They developed it for the 2014 and newer Highlander which has the same rear suspension as the 2010 and newer RX and has a bigger market and more buyers who would modify their vehicle with higher performance shocks & struts.
The 2008 - 2013 Highlander has the same front suspension as the 2010 -2015 RX.
The 2014 Highlander was a redesign and they adopted the RX rear suspension which allows more rear cargo room, but it has a different front suspension.

I replaced the factory rear stock shock absorbers with KYBs. The ride actually seemed softer. Maybe because the factory ones were leaking. I had trouble getting the originals off, so I took it to a local repair shop. Hope this helps.

Same here when I did the rear struts a few months ago! The lower rear strut bolts were seized in and seemed to be infused in the strut lower bushing metal sleeve. After hitting them with a sludge hummer for a couple of hours along with using all kind of chemicals, I had to cut them below the bolts heads and drive them the opposite way. I then replaced all the bolts with genuine parts from Lexus after coating them with anti-seize. The new bolts were's not expensive and the Lexus parts gentleman said that replacing the bolts is always recommended when they swap struts at their shop. The top ones were driven out easy though!
