No, I don't play soccer!
Welcome to CL, jackbequic. I've moved your thread over to the 3RX forum based on the year of your RX.
The Pacific regional forum is a better place to find shop recommendations although you might receive a few from members here. And feel free to post any questions you have regarding the repair. We have a handful of resident experts among the group. Good luck.

Generally, the most cost-effective solution is to go to a starter/alternator rebuild shop and let them rebuild the OEM unit with new (and often better) internal parts for less than half the cost of letting a dealership do the work. This will generally give you a repair which will last as long as the original part.

There are few options based on how much of work you want to do as DIY.
If you can take the alternator out and have it tested by auto-parts shop . If it tests bad, then you can purchase a remanufactured with lifetime warranty. Then just mount it back, If you are more avid DIYers you can service the alternator. Bearings would need a press.
If you need a mechanic, then a local auto-electric shop would be the most economical way.
