Outside Mirror Damage
Simply an FYI for anyone with a damaged exterior mirror cover. I've read hear a number of times replacement mirrors are very expensive. Used units are not cheap & can be a gamble.
Ours was damaged by a large truck mirror, we believe. Looked at used for well North of $300.00 US + paint when I get it.
Talked to the local dealer & ordered in an OEM replacement cover - skull cap- factory painted to match the car.
I reviewed a few on-line DYI sites & looks like a 30-45 minute job to remove the damaged part & install the new.

Have you given any thought to upgrading to power folding or blind spot monitoring mirror?

Salim,
Thought I'd keep it as stock for now.
Car just past 7 years old with +/- 65K miles on it. Working well & still looks very good. May keep it another couple years. 2 of my 3 children are approaching the train station with their educations & will soon be leaving the nest. Did I just say" When you movin' out ?" HA!
Been a long tough grind for both of them but we've been behind them every step. Kids are forever on the payroll , ask me how I know.
Considering a new/next to new RX after this one, perhaps a sedan. She drives it 99% of the time. I get to clean it & gas it .
Very good deals on slightly used are few & far between locally unless you have an inside edge.
Exchange on the $US has anything nice on a truck heading to the US practically the same day it's turned in.
1/2 ton trucks are even worse especially the later F150s.
I'll let you know how the fix turns out.

As you look for the replacement, I was encouraging you price out the better alternative. If the price difference is small, I would take the better alternative even if the system will be incomplete. Guess I am sucker to potential improvement.

Salim,
i was able to but the factory OEM replacement part for $86.20 + tax, $99.13 all in, $ Cdn.
Factory painted, perfect fit. Easy fix for anyone that would try it. Patience is always the key.
I've read a few posts by other where "parts not available" or "dealer wants $$ way too much "
Hopefully others can take advantage of the parts counter at their local dealer.

Can't believe how simple a job this was.
1- remove the mirror glass & unplug the small harnesses.
2- remove 4 Philipps screws securing the front housing to the rear housing.
3- unplug & remove the puddle lamp housing
4- remove 1 Philipps screw securing the rear housing to the main mirror assemble pedestal
5- swap the turn signal housing from old rear housing to the new housing.
6- reassemble in reverse order from 4 to 1.
All in less than 15 minutes.

what year is your RX??
I just checked with my dealer. I have a 2010, canadian-made/USA-located vehicle, and they only show ordering the entire mirror. I have a suspicion some years may vary from others in the generation of RX's.
======================
Ooops, hey wait, shows you have a 2010??
If so, could you post the Lexus dealer you ordered from?
Thanks!!

I often use Lexus of South Atlanta parts [there may be other dealerships too] to find the part number [once Sewell went off line for parts].
You can go to your local lexus and ask them to pull their on line catalog and order from there.
