Default Strunk strut get rusty

Hi

I just bought a Lexus R350 2015. I didn't see the rusty from the trunk strut when I bought it. My question is the car is only 1 year old and the trunk strut rusty? will it cover by warranty if I complain to Lexus Canada? Will the rust spread around other part of the car?

Thank you.

Tri.

Rust does not spread, it simply occurs....moisture on bare, ferrous metals = rust. If there is no moisture, or if the metal has a good protective coating (paint, etc), rust will not occur, or will at least be very unlikely.

When you say "strut", are you talking about the little piston/shock absorber that holds up the hatch? If so, that is a replaceable part, and should be covered by warranty.

Ask your service advisor about the rust. I am fairly certain he will tell you there is nothing to worry about.
