I found that the front left strut boot is broken like below the other day. Here are my questions. My the way, mine is 08 RX350 with 65K miles.

- If it is used to protect the strut, is it harmful to the strut since it is broken?
- If it is harmful can it be repaired?

 

Don't worry about it. Torn boots are going to occur, but no point in taking apart the whole strut assembly to replace it.

The boot is there to protect dirt and debris from going onto the strut rod. Even if half that boot fell off, your strut would still be fine.
