Default 2015 RX resale value with new 2016 RX

Just curious how many think the resale on the 3rd generation will be affected by the new 2016 RX ?
I just bought a new 2015 RX350, and love it ! I personally think the resale will remain solid because many do not like the looks of the 2016. In fact, a salesman at Lexus told me that the 2015's are selling like crazy because people still want this body style and size. The 2015 is perfect for me, and I plan to keep it for a long time. The resale has always been great on the RX, so chime in with your thoughts !

When I traded in my RX I was shocked at how seemingly low the amount I was offered was. I purchased new for $52K and only got $32000. That was after 2.5 years and only 25K miles. But when I did the math, the trade value was 61% of original purchase price, which is actually pretty good. The best resale values at 3 years for vehicles is about 62-65% (the FJ cruiser apparently is at 70%+).

The only thing that may increase the resale value o the 2016 is the additional tech inside it. In a few years, as people warm to the exterior styling (as almost always occurs), used 2016s may actually hold value better than previous gen vehicles.

The '16 has a price increase which should keep resale ok for the last gen RX's.

Hardly any price increase

As with all cars - when the new model comes out, the old ones lose value - its as simple as that, they arent considered as desirable

I agree with you. We just bought a used 2015. My wife and I have no interest in the 2016. Don't like the cheap black plastic around each wheel well, the aggressive looking front, its a suv and the nav screen that sits on top of the dash. It looks like an afterthought. The engineers forgot to implement in the dash and velcroed it on the dash.

Not all cars do....My Toyota 2008 Highlander was still in demand when the new body style came out, as many didn't like the larger size of the 2014 as well as the looks. I think the same could hold true for the RX. There are many who still prefer the current size and design. Time will tell, and it won't be that much of a difference if the retail should become a little less.

Yes, I feel the 2016 RX would look much better not to have that plastic around the wheel wells. I disliked it on the NX too. The Acuras do not have it, and they look much better IMO as far as that goes.

I test drove a 200NX (the new small SUV) and when I saw that monstrosity of a screen above the dash, I knew I would never buy that car. The 2016 RX is the same? Lord, that was like a nightmare from 1957.

Honestly, do any real people ever actually look at these new "fancy" designs?

It is as bad as Apple putting a dinosaur of a hard drive in their new flagship iMac
