Last April (2014), we decided that our 2006 RX330 was "tired". Pittsburgh winters take their toll. And while the vehicle was still pretty good, it was just starting to feel like "it was time". We had seen the current bodystyle, RX but my wife was concerned that it was too big compared to the old RX she was used to. And we heard about this small Lexus ("NX") that was coming later in the year. So we decided to lease the RX for 27 months, with an eye to buy an NX after that.
Well, the NX was a disappointment to us. Rode "small" and there is no fuel savings over the RX since the NX requires premium vs the RX regular. And we decided that we LOVE the RX. The size is perfect after all. And it rides like we like...old style....isolated and quiet. We saw pictures of the 2016 RX which would DEFINITELY be too big. So I inquired to buy out our vehicle from the lease and just own it.
Turns out that we got a brand new 2015 RX for not too much more. The deal was worth doing, even though it was more expensive than just buying our "used" 2014.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share our experience. The NX gets the same fuel economy, adjusted for premium gas, the discounts are thin now and it rides like a small car. Vs the RX rides great, can be bought (for now) at a good discount and has essentially the same fuel economy as the smaller vehicle.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that we have adult(ish) kids who are still moving around/in college. The extra cargo space of the RX vs the NX is valuable to us at this point in time, although within 2-3 years that won't be a factor.

Can't really blame you for not wanting the NX. I had all intentions to get an NX300h, but the fuel economy is quite disappointing for a 2.5L Hybrid, plus it was SLOW. I can't imagine how it drives with five people in the car. One thing I can't stand on the NX (and 2016 RX) are the plastic wheel arches. They look very tacky on a 'luxury' vehicle!
What exactly is this and what is the easy 1step action step to try it with my iphone6 and 2015 RX?
First make sure 'Show Notifications' is enabled on your iPhone. Settings > Bluetooth > click little blue 'i' on Car Multi-Media. Cycle car off then back on or accessory mode. Then just hold down your 'off hook' telephone switch on the steering wheel for several seconds until you see Siri pop up on your car's screen
No problem. Most things that you can ask Siri you can do through the car. So a text may come through and you could tell Siri to reply, or read your email, or call someone (more free speech than the cars 'Push to talk' voice prompts), or schedule an appointment in your calender or play a song etc.

Those plastic wheel well trims are one thing that I had admired on the X1 (and X-5?) and the CR-V.
I figured that they'd protect the wheel openings from abrasion and prevent rust, as I want this latest car to run 200K into my retirement years - and that means a lot of high wheel speed driving.
At first I didn't like the NX at all.. Now the more I see them the more they are growing on me especially when equipped right. But I still prefer the RX.
I picked up at 2010 Rx about a year ago for my commuter car. Then took a job that I don't have to commute as far but enjoyed that Rx so much I kept it.
