Headrests
I just bought a 2013 RX 350. So far very pleased. The only annoying thing I have found is the headrest. It is too far forward and it cannot be adjusted. I have looked into the problem and apparently it is not just an RX or Lexus problem. It seems our benevolent (pick you favorite expletive) government has mandated this to decrease whiplash. I drove a new ES and it is really bad. There are 4 position headrests available outside of the US. Apparently they are available in Canada. Has anyone been able to get ahold of one of these? Is there a place to get Canadian parts in the US or have them shipped here? I have a BMW and Europe only parts are easy to get. I will call the dealer I bought the car from tomorrow but I doubt they will be any help.
Thanks for any help in advance.

You are missing the point. I don't want the headrest touching my head. I said the headrest was too far FORWARD. In the ES i mentioned, the head rest actually pushes my my head down. I want to move it back. I have tried turning the headrest. around, as others have suggested, but then it is too far back.
I have been driving for many years and know what I want. If anyone can help me get I part I am looking for, it would be appreciated.

It is too pokey/far forward for me too. I just raised it so the most forward part is above my head and I never feel it any more. If you are really tall this probably isn't a good solution. On mine the legs are extended up probably 3-4".
I'd be interested in the four-position head rests, if you find a source please post.

Canada Question
Is anyone on the forum from outside the USA? Could you verify a 4 position headrest exists. I may have been a little naïve believing a single post who said they were available in Canadian and UK models.(I am hoping the single post is correct)
Thanks

The headrests in the RX models since the 4th gen was launched in 2016 have been much more aggressively angled forward for safety reasons, but the result is a very uncomfortable seating position for folks like me who sit more in a straight-up position. I have a couple of herniated discs in my neck, so it's very important that I don't slouch when I drive; I really do have to sit up much straighter in order to be comfortable. I had ruled out all late model RXs in my current car search and was focusing on 2015 RX 350s and 450h models. However, at the dealership today, I asked the service manager if they had any workaround ideas. He grabbed a front seat headrest from a 2013 RX 350 and it turns out that it fits in the 4th gen models! (My sales rep then tried out swapping the 3rd gen RX headrest in 2019, 2021 and 2022 models for me, and it fit into all of them.) This makes such a world of difference that I put a deposit down on a new 2022 RX 450h today. Hopefully this helps someone!

You can remove the headrest and place it in facing backwards. I did this on my HS250h because my wife was complaining of neck pain. No more pain with the headrest reversed.
Or you can try this modification

Hi! I appreciate your reply! However, this solution provides no head support for comfort nor safety against whiplash. Definitely tried it, and it's not an option for me for comfort and safety reasons. Thanks, though!

I don’t like the headrests in our ‘14 either. I tried putting the superior ones in my ‘08 in and while the hole lines up and the rest goes in, it’s a bit of a tighter fit and you don’t get as good of an engagement on the lock mechanism.
