Default Best Oil for 2011 RX350

Hello All

It's time for 1st oil change on my newly purchased 2011 RX350 Touring (Canadian Model). I have always been a fan of synthetic oil; particularly Motul. I know this oil works well on German cars. What have members found to be the best oil & weight for the RX350? I live in Canada and it gets pretty cold in the winter & hot in the summer. Obviously looking for a smoother ride

Most Toyota vehicles are now 0W20 synthetic certified. I hear Toyota oil is highly regarded..
I keep using Mobil 1, but there are many negative opinions about it out there.

Pick your favorite and move on. There is nothing inherently special about the engine that requires 'the best' motor oil. I highly doubt most can detect a difference between brands of oil (placebo does not count!). Keep your oil changed on time and even the modest synthetic will do.

honestly it would be the oil that shows up the best in your specific used oil analysis because it would reflect your style of driving, area weather conditions on your motor.

That said, most forums tout Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 or Mobil 1 0w20 as favorites.

Do you use standard m1? Based on oil analysis ive seen m1 isn't that good after 5k miles. I plan on doing an analysis on Toyota oil once I hit 20k

An oil that lubricates and is the proper viscosity.

Typically the 5w20 oils are recommended for the 5k intervals and the 0w20 for the 10k intervals.

There are 3 different 0w20 Mobil 1 oils, all are synthetic.

https://mobiloil.com/en/viscosity/0w-20

Majority of the oil analysis that have been posted over the years have been just labeled as Mobil 1 Synthetic 0w20, now the equivalent appears to be called Mobil Super Synthetic.

From time to time with identical weights Mobil switches up their base stock.
We have seen that in other grades which sheer down a full weight before scheduled changes.
You may want to experiment with your own UOA for current data.

We're happy with Toyota synthetic 0W20 at 10,000 mile intervals. It's stamped on the oil filler cap and recommended in the literature.

I too just follow the mfgr recommendations. I'm not technically proficient enough to think I'm smarter than the engineers that designed my RX to come up with a better solution, and I've had nothing but great reliability with each of my Lexi over the past 20+ years following their guidelines.

Toyota label 0w20 is made by Exxon/Mobil to Toyota specs.
Rates very highly on the www.bobistheoilguy.com forum.

The thing is some Lexus dealers buy 0w20 oil in bulk form and there's no guarantee your dealer uses Toyota branded 0w20.

I like using Toyota oil but any 0w20 brand really works.

Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like 0w20 synthetic will do the trick with OEM toyota filter.

It is not a high performance vehicle so spend $$$ on Motul does not make sense

First off oil doesnt have a weight, it is viscocity a d second 5w20 or 10w30 will work. The first number is for min safe outdoor temp in F, second is the oil thickness which when heated, thins out, so a w30 will be a w20 once warm, etc.
