Price at the dealership: https://lexus2.custhelp.com/app/answ...8260/related/1

Not worth it, imo.

Yup, it's free using Waze on my phone.

No, you can't do it yourself.

The 2013 - 2015 RX has a generation 7 navigation system that is updated the same way as the generation 7 navigation system in our 2012 Prius.

The vehicle owner buys an activation card that has an activation code on it. The part number for the activation card for the most recent (2018) Lexus generation 7 map update appears to be PT219-HDD07-18 but verify to make sure. If you have a Costco card, you should be able to buy the activation card through the Costco Auto Program at a 15% discount which brings the $169 down to $143.65.

A dealership technician performs the update using proprietary software and a "master USB". During the update process, the technician enters the activation code from the activation card you purchased. This prevents the same activation card from being used on multiple vehicles. You should retain the activation card in case there is a later problem with the update.

The update takes perhaps 30 minutes while the technician goes off and does something else. The labor charge for doing this update varies widely. Some dealerships charge as if the technician is dedicating all the time to the update instead of going off and doing something else to make money for the dealership. The labor charge for the navigation update on our Prius in 2017 was $40.

It's not necessary to buy the activation card from the same dealership that does the update.

Hello,
I have a lexus 450 H 2010 model and looking at the posts in this thread.
I'm disappointed with the navigation system. Is there any way I can replace it with the google maps ? This device GROM Vline -- is it the answer? it's price is about twice the charges of an upgrade from lexus dealership
Thank you

Question 2013 Software update?

Did Lexus ever offer software updates for the 2013 RX350 or did they just phase them out over time? I ask because I'm on their website right now and they only offer updates for 2014 or newer vehicles.
The website: https://securedp.lexus.com/download-app/downloads

Here's what my system says:

Model ID: 11LHENNA-AZ01

Navigation: V6613700
Bluetooth: 21.210

Call your local Lexus dealer and I predict they will be glad to update your Nav for several hundred dollars.

We updated our 2014 RX350. Yes, Lexus charges something like $350 for the upgrade (GM charges $300 for theirs). But the upgrade was worth it. I don' t like to use our phone for directions and much rather use the Nav in our cars.

Go with the Grom VLine. It adds Apple CarPlay /Android Auto to your car and a whole host of other features

How does the Grom solution (https://gromaudio.com/store/vline/le...n-upgrade.html) compare to the Lsailt solution (https://www.carnavigationbox.com/sal...vigator.html)?

Guys over in the 4RX forum have a giant thread about the Lsailt solution. It may be that they offer the same thing.

I've been considering the Lsailt unit. CarPlay was pretty high on my list of desired features, but the RX won out over the newer CR-V. I figured aftermarket would come to the rescue.

Is GROM VLine a plug-and-play install?

Default 2014 RX 350 GPS update

I need to know if anyone out there has any idea of what kind of update I need for my GPS? I have seen discs, USB Flash drives but none for the 2014 RX 350. Can anyone help me?

Thank you.

Lexus 2009 and older used DVD's in a slot, 2010 through 2015's have a Hard Drive built into the head unit, 2016 and newer have an mini-SD chip in a socket.

Updates for your 2014 RX involves the dealer connecting the TechTool to your car, sending your licensing fee to Lexus and downloading the update.
Takes a couple of hours. Newest release is coming out in late fall, check that you are going to get the 2019 rather than 2018 data if you are going for it.

Default Rx 450 navigation update

Hi!
Is there any reasonably priced way of updating the maps system of lexus rx450 H.
Company is charging a lot of money in this day and age.
My navigation system is the one which came with the car 2010 model.
Many thanks.

There is cost of the software and labor and as I understand it can only be done at the dealership and the worst part is that it becomes 'old' the day you install it. So think about the recurring costs you will be paying every time you want to update.

Maybe the parts can sell you prior year's software at discount, but don't part with money till you are assured the dealership can upload a prior year's software.

Your personal preference may be different, but the consensus is use your mobile phone for the latest, and use the vehicle's maps for old established roads.
