I purchased a certified used 2013 RX 350 about a year ago. I love my Lexus. I am still learning new things about my Lexus. I have a question about upgrading the navigation system. Are there any DIY tutorials on how to upgrade the navigation system?
Thanks

I say don't even bother bc (assuming you are talking about OEM factory NAVI):
1. Cost too much for what you get.
2. Even if you "upgrade" which really HAS to be done at a Lexus dealership and pay BIG MONEY FOR, it will NOT have the most up to date maps.
I would just use the WAZE app on my phone (FREE) OR buy a Garmin.
Or you can bootleg it which I do not recommend bc you may brick the NAVI system??? IDK???

Yes, the OEM factory NAVI.
You are correct it is expensive. I took my car in for routine maintenance, the dealership quoted me a price of $300. I politely said no thank you.

Even if you pay the renewal fee for an "upgrade", you are still NOT having the latest maps.
Use WAZE app on the phone for free or just buy a Garmin with lifetime updates!!!

Really, how screwed up even updated nav is they should be giving it out free ,or get an oil change and get a free nav upgrade
in Ottawa , it tells me that the exit is on left , but there no exit
I do like the screen colours much better than google or Waze
FIat was smart to do a deal with Garmin

Navi upgrade
I have a 2009 RX350. When I took my car in to have the dash replaced, I asked the parts department if they had any old upgrades I could buy, given that my service rep quoted $300 for an upgrade. He went in back and came out with a 2014 disk. Yes, it was already a few years old, but it was FREE! I still don't bother using my GPS because it's still useless with all the constant changes going on everywhere.
As for updating it myself, I turned my key on (without actually starting the car), raised the back hatch, lifted the carpet to expose the hidden CD unit on the right, slid the button over which spit out the old disk, put the new disk in and it was already updated by the time I got back to the driver's seat! Easy Peasy. I found out how to do this via YouTube!
