bought 2013 rx 350 and the button on the dash board to open the rear hatch trunk just beeps twice and wont open. i have to use the remote to open and close and the button on the trunk works to close it. how can i get the dash button to open the trunk ?

Could it just be that the power function of your back door is disabled?

Check in the glove box for a button to turn the power back door off/on.

 

Turn off the engine

 

Turning off the engine has nothing to do with it. I can open my rear hatch with the dash button while the engine is running. I experienced this once, but I don't remember how it was corrected. It has to do with a setting or lock out feature. I doubt that it's a malfunction.

 

Put your gear to Park, then press unlock door button, you should be able to open it.

 

... and hold the button pressed for a couple of seconds.

 

I don't think the car has to be in park, except if it isn't, the car will probably beep at you even more. I think the car just has to be unlocked, assuming the button to disable the power trunk is off since you can do it with the key fob.

 

As Mario000 suggests, if your ignition is ON, your RX must first be in Park before the cargo door button will operate. There are a number of other conditions that your Owners Manual around p86 describes. A few pages before and after that provides some additional info how the cargo door can be opened/closed, warning indicators, etc.

 

THANKS FOR ALL THE SUGESTIONS I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND HE SAID ALL DOORS HAVE TO BE UNLOCKED FOR THE DASH BUTTON TO WORK

 

dont think its true... sounds like you just had the valet override button on the left side .. inside the glove box active.

 

Both our RX and Venza have to have the doors unlocked for the power lift gate button to operate.

 

The only way i can open my trunk from the dashboard is to unlock all doors !

How can i disable that to open all times without unlocking doors ?

Any help ?

You must have a reason for looking this, and if you find a way, just remember there is a reason why the lock-all prevents any door from opening.
