Parking Brake Noise
I recently noticed that when I release the parking brake on our new 15 F-Sport it make a loud noise. It's hard to explain, but it kind of sounds like a spring being released with a clunking sound. (Sorry for the weird description).
When I press the brake to set it I am not pushing it all the way to the floor or forcing it at all. I am just using normal pressure to apply it.
It's not a big deal, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Thanks in advance.

Is the noise coming from the area of the parking brake pedal/lower dash? Or is it more outside/under the car?

Mine does the same thing and is exacerbated by the silent engine at a stop. I don't necessarily remember a spring noise but there definitely is a loud clunk which can be heard both inside and out. I don't think there is anything wrong, just the way the parking brake disengages

Can confirm that this is normal, my 2011 has done this since day one. Usually does NOT make a sound if you engage and disengage right after. It's only if load has been applied to the parking brake after engaged, e.g. shifting into reverse with parking brake engaged, then releasing parking brake.

Thanks for the responses everyone.
Yeah, I really didn't think anything was wrong but figured I'd ask the forum.. When it goes in for it's first service I'll mention it..
Thanks again

I'm reviving this thread because for 2 years I have lived with this loud clunking noise when releasing the parking brake, because my selling dealer told me 3 times that nothing was wrong. So I just wanted to let anyone know who may have this issue that it was as easy as a parking brake adjustment.
The RX is our third Lexus, my previous two I bought from the same salesman at the same dealer and everything was great. Approx 6 months prior to us buying the RX back in 2014 my salesman left so when I was buying the RX I used another salesman at the dealer. Well lets just say he left a lot to be desired when it came to communication so I purchased the RX from a different dealer.
The buying experience was great but the service dept was terrible, not the Lexus experience I was used to. I found out my salesman returned to my original dealer so I made an appt for routine oil and NYS inspection last week. When I was there I mention the parking brake noise, well guess what, the parking brake was loose so it was tighten and adjusted and the noise is finally gone after two years.
And to make matters worse, since new there was always a slight creaking noise coming from the back when going over bumps, nothing crazy just a slight creaking that was especially noticeable over speeds bumps. I had mentioned this to my selling dealer 3 times and they said nothing was wrong, each time telling me they inspected the suspension and everything was good.
Well during my service last week at my original dealer I happened to mention this noise also. Well guess what, the rear trailing arm bushings had play in them because they weren't seated properly. So the trailing arms were replaced and the noise is gone..
Needless to say I will never set foot in my selling dealer again. It amazes me that one dealer after three attempts couldn't find, or more than likely didn't wan't to be bothered fixing these two issues. And another dealer fixed both the first time it was brought to their attention.
Sorry for the long post/rant but I had to vent...

No, I don't play soccer!
JT4, I'm glad you came back to say the parking brake noise was finally resolved. It'll help others with the same problem. And that's great your old dealer took care of the other noise problem too. Now you can get back to enjoying your RX.

FYI - Before the adjustment my parking brake would go to the floor when I set it. Since it was adjusted it now "sets" much higher than it used to.
