Somewhat disappointed in RX backup camera
I agree with another member who said "it's better than nothing but"..
Like the rest of us, since I don't spend too much time backing up its not that big of a deal. But IMO the clarity is not great just "ok" and I feel not having guide lines in a Lexus is ridiculous.
I installed a backup camera I purchased online for $65.00 in my middle son's 2011 Honda Accord, the type that mounts on the license plate. And I am not kidding when I say that for $65 it has much better resolution and guidelines.
And before anyone suggests it, no I am not installing one on the Lexus..

Like justin1203, I feel fortunate too. The clarity is very good IMO. When I test drove the F-Sport when it came out, putting it in reverse I thought I was looking at an old TV show from the 50s. The lack of color was surprising. But from here or another another thread, I understand that can be adjusted. Maybe I'm old school, guidelines make the screen look busy. I had a chance to see it in action on the LS with the self parking features a long time ago. At the same time I can appreciate others find the feature useful.

That one I remember. Press Menu. In upper right corner, click Display. There you can adjust contrast for the normal display but instead look in upper area of that menu and click "Camera". You'll see a similar menu where you can then adjust contrast for the cam as well -- at least on my 2013 I can.

I have a NX loaner and to my surprise it has an excellent backup camera with guide lines. The backup lines move with steering wheel input. It was a pleasure to use it to back up my winding driveway.
Has anyone else noticed the RX camera to be at an angle? Pointed more to the driver side?
If I back out of our garage and don't use the mirror's, I wouldn't go in a straight line.
Maybe that's why the guidelines are missing?
I have fixed guidelines in my STi and I can use them to back into a parking spot leaving even space on each side.
I test drove yet again a BMW 3-series and their moving guidelines were superb.
I could use just the camera to back into a parking spot, adjusting the steering angle as I went in.

As much as I didn't like our two previous ML350's, I will admit that the camera on the 2012 was great. The resolution and guidelines that moved with the steering were fantastic. I would guess just like you experienced with the BMW.
Oh boy! One more thing that can go wrong. I stop by to get a 40K oil change in the GS350, and we're gonna walk away with an RX350AWD but a '15 new. She gives up her nice little things she gets with the GS, but I'm a simple guy and think they over thought the tranny in that thing. I didn't even drive it, why? Already know what is gonna be like. I have no complaints, but a crappy camera......one that "I" don't use but the wife does, and I'll catch hell if she doesn't like it. Hate cameras and light sensitive mirrors!!! So now I'll go search for trailer hitches. The $900 from the dealer sent shivers up my back. CURT seems to make one with good reviews. They did toss in the wire harness though.
And.....we bought a SeaDoo Speedster 150/155 '08. Want to pull it. Truck is trash.

I really like the RX a lot but the camera leaves a lot to be desired. But then again, for the amount of time I spend going in reverse it's not that much of a big deal.
Congrats on the RX..

About 10 days later here....I think. Heck I love the car. We should have bought that to begin with. Rides fine despite what videos say on YouTube. Hard to compare a GS with an RX, but if you can appreciate a good ride, they both have their place in life and I do like the RX better than the GS
I mean in reality, the GS isn't that sporty. It's like and old man sport car. But I did like it for what it was worth. As for the camera on the RX, it is color and I don't trust them. Only thing it's close to being good for is backing the car up to the boat. After that, I can't get use to them. I'm glad the mirrors don't seem to tilt down as far as they did on the GS. That really pissed me off. I didn't like looking at the ground when backing up, but then I sit high in the seat. If I dropped the seat all the way down like the wife does, they might have been a little decent. The RX pulls our SeaDoo150 just fine up and down the hills
And, it's gonna get the Ziebart!!

About 2 years after it was rustproofed it developed blisters on my rocker panels. Blisters got worse over time. I got under the car and found the drain holes in the rocker panels were stopped up with the Ziebart black rustproof gunk. I poked a toothpick in the clogged holes and gallons of water came out. The rocker panels were rotted through because they were full of water due to lack of drainage CAUSED BY Ziebart!
I went back to Ziebart for them to honor the rust through warranty. They realized the repair cost would not be cheap so they said here is a refund on the cost of the rustproofing. WHAT! Reading the "warranty" it was stated that they were only liable up to the original cost of rustproofing.
After that I cringe any time I hear the name Ziebart.
Just my experience.
I hear ya on that. But that's the part of both my Camrys are rusting without it. The plugs came out and the salt water got up in there and settled to the back where it doesn't drain. Either way it's a win win for me because of the the undercoating. There are tiny rust spots in the rear A frames, and I'll guarantee you after even one winter its will get much worse. I'm gonna buy a couple cans of the spray for use on the other vehicles. It's being done as I write. 😉
Ziebart..... Last time I used them for "rustproofing" it was a disaster. That was back in 1977 when I had them rustproof my brand new Datsun 260Z,
