I have a 2013 RX 450h and curious what other [newer] owners have in terms of the latest firmware/Nav versions.
I was told by Lexus Tech that the SMS issue I have would be fixed by an update to the Nav system yet the dealer told me I have the latest firmware (yet I still have the issue). I do not see a "firmware" version listed and curious what others have.
Thanks but I do not see a reference to the numbers I got from my system. The site refers to Gen 2 & 3, and Nav 13.1 and I see no map update listed on mine nor how to decifer the numbers I have listed.
We have a 2014 RX350 and we both have GS3 phones. I just upgraded the firmware on both phones to Android 4.3 and messaging now works. I had to delete the pairing in both the car and the phone and restart both more than once. My wife just left on a trip but I was able to see a test text come through on the Nav screen. I did not get the Nav version, sorry.

Would be fixed does not necessarily mean that it has been fixed. Lexus is a bit slow when it comes to such matters. Perhaps they have fixed problems for others and yet have not addressed your issue as of this moment.
I believe you may need the Toyota/Lexus computer setup and software to read the information regarding version numbers of the firmware and that it is not available for viewing on any NAV display.
Have you worked with the Lexus Technology Specialist at your dealership in regards to diagnosing and reproducing your problem? They may have more to say on the matter as their job is to work with the connectivity of third-party products with the Lexus navigation/entertainment system(s). Perhaps they can try to reproduce the problem with a similar vehicle on the lot.
I have the Samsung S3 (Android 4.3) and it has always randomly (mostly never) showed the incoming text message and sometimes does not show the Reply button.
I talked to Lexus headquarters who told me I needed (by my VIN) the update to the Nav to fix this.
(I was not sure what it had to do with the Nav.)
Dealer at 5K checkup said there was a "notice" about this issue (i.e., the lack of incoming text display) but that I had the latest firmware on the car. I was just curious how to find out (if I could).
I left voicemail with my service manager as the problem persists and emailed back to Lexus Tech direct but no word yet.

Keep on them about this. Some dealerships are better than others when it comes to tech and customer service. You may find it necessary, though less convenient, to simply show up to talk with these individuals. Have found that the service writers and service managers for the local Lexus dealerships to be terrible about returning calls. The Lexus Technology Specialist should not require a special appointment to meet with that individual and does not charge for their time, so use that resource for all it is worth.
When they are referring to the need to update the NAV they are really referring to the navigation/infotainment system as a whole. Much like a computer it has hardware, software and firmware -- software imbedded into the hardware. The latter can be updated though usually done much less frequent than any software update like the maps data points and software. Consider this like the BIOS in your home or work computer.
There are many reasons for being told no update was available. Here are just a few. First would be outright sloppiness. Service Manager knows better than the customer so does not bother to even check though claims to have done so. Another reason would be failure by the shop to update their own equipment and software which might indicate an update was available. The final being that there is truly no update available for you at this time. There may have been one between the time your RX was built and now which was already applied either before purchase or during a previous service.
Finally, be sure to note your experiences regarding all of this on any surveys you are asked to complete and/or by contacting Lexus Customer Service as you have done previous. And be sure to come back here to CL to let us know how things progress.
I just had the firmware updated on mine. I will check what version they have listed in the notes. The SA was absolutely clueless what firmware is. I'm also getting maps updated in a couple of weeks.
Thanks. Odd I do not see a separate line for Firmware so assume it may be part of the Nav. But my versions do not map to what the Lexus Nav (site to buy new map updates) indicate either.
I tried that but on the last step on the SERVICE MENU screen, when pressed, it then shows me options for SYSTEM CHECK, HDD CHECK &Diagnosis Recorder. None of these seem to offer any firmware version numbers.
Thx

Yep, if it worked, it should show the version numbers after you click on "Failure Diagnosis". So the 2013's are different than the 10's, 11's and 12's.
