Feedback from owners with 22" wheels - RX450h
Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone with 22" wheels on their RX's can share some feedback on the overall ride quality. I can imagine this will cause a harsher ride vs stock 18" and 19", but just want to see if this is a bad idea based on user experience.
Thanks.

I have had no experience with those large wheels, but all i can think off is
Slimmer profile = less air in the tires = less cushion = firmer ride
Larger diameter = more compressed struts, less springs absorbtion = firmer ride
Wider wheel = less body roll, more balance, heavier on the steering wheel, more sensitive to street paving pulling left or right.
Result: the larger the wheels, the larger the impact, so 22 inches will give you an estimate of vs 18"
2x less Body roll
2x heavier steering wheel
3x firmer ride

You would be looking at about 94mm sidewall of the tire (235/40R22). Stock 19" is 129mm (235/55R19).
My IS300 came with 97mm sidewall with low profile tires. I can tell you right now, it is a bad idea. The very first pothole will bend your wheels. I have a collection of bent rims from my IS300 and that's a 1000lbs+ lighter vehicle. If that's not a concern, then you would get a firmer ride with better handling. You could compensate sidewall decrease by going with larger tires. I can't say how much firmer it will be, as I wouldn't do it to the RX.

Hmmm good topic! Im kind of in the debate loop as well. I have a 99GS sitting on Vertini Hennesey rims 20". Will those fit on the RX? Cuz im parting out the GS, and will put the rx rims on the GS... Lol

What's the offset and width on those rims? RX has 35mm offset. It is best not to deviate from that number, as the suspension components have a geometry built for it. Now, the higher the offset number, the closer to the wheel will be to the suspension components, the higher the chances are that it will hit it. Same goes for wheel width.

5x114 Bolt Pattern
20x8.5 +18 Front
20x10 +25 Rear
idk if it will work...

Are you sure on the bolt pattern? Lexus is typically 5x114.
Otherwise, I think they should fit. They will extend-out a bit, though. You can try test-fitting them since you already have them. I'd start with the rear. That's where I had the least room.

yea sorry bout that... 5x114 haha! but question... on the GS, maybe im sure it was a size issue... but i was always about 5 mph off.... (i bought the GS used with the wheels on them) is that gonna be an issue for the RX?

Speed is not dependent on the wheel diameter, but on the tire itself. If you go with a tire that has a larger diameter the OEM, then yes, the speed will be off. If you stay within the spec, then not at all.

do you have the specs for the RX??? cuz will they fit a 20" on OEM spec??

Well, it's been a while but I took the plunge with the 22"s..... took 3 months for them to arrive but they are here and I'm loving them!!
Yes, the ride is noticeably harsher (especially moving from the stock 18"s) but I still think the ride is comfortable.
The best part is the improvement in body roll. It's by no means perfect now but certainly an improvement from the stock 18"s i had before and less annoying going round corners.
All in all, very happy with the decision.
