I've heard a few things about illuminated entry sills, so I'm now intrigued...

My car is a UK MY13 RX450h F Sport, and so being an F-Sport it has the F-Sport Black Leather trim. I've had a look and there appears to be wiring for them in the front doors, but not in the rear doors.

Are these simple enough to fit? Are there specific parts for the three generations of RX, and then the March 2012 facelift... or are they just one part fits all? Same question with LHD vs RHD?

And then I guess the important question is where to buy them from and for how much?

 

different parts for different generations. third gen has it in the front only. they have them in white and blue, blue for the hybrid

 

The F-Sport does not have them - just the Luxury Package in the USA and the Ultra Premium's in Canada. Try Sewell and I believe we get a discount. I know they have them but they are expensive because it is the entire plastic piece that you have to buy not just the "Lexus" part. Google Sewell Lexus Parts

I have them on mine and we like it, especially when getting out of the car in the dark area. Would I pay for this? probably not, it just came with the car as I'm the 2nd owner.

 

I bought them from Sewell but I chose white instead of blue on the 450h. Blue would have clashed with the white LED interior lights too much They're super easy to install. I put the old ones back on when I bring in the RX for service. While it would be nice to have rear illuminated sills, they aren't as big as the front and would probably not look right. I had front and rear illuminated sills on the 330.

Do I need to get different ones for my RHD RX compared with LHD, or are they the same?

From what I gather Sewell are a US Lexus dealer who have a decent website and forum connections... are these original Lexus parts with part numbers that any dealer could order in? Or are Sewell miles cheaper than any other dealer would be?

 

Sewell Lexus with a Club Lexus account is loads cheaper than anywhere else that I've seen. I previously bought 2011 MY tail lights for my 07 IS250 from them and saved about 300 dollars just with the CL price discount.

 

Is it really easy to install rear illuminated entry sills ?
Mines are blue at front entry.
Where can we buy white illuminated sills ? Costs?

There are no rear illuminated entry sills available for the RX (to my knowledge). Sewell is a Club Lexus approved vendor on this forum. Google Sewell Lexus for website details, or click on the Vendors tab at the top right of your screen here (just below and to the left of your login).

 

My MY13 RX450h F-Sport didn't come with either, but I've popped both a front and rear one off and there's only wiring for them in the front.


So going on Sewell and selecting the 2013 RX450h, it says the part fits 2010 - 2013 cars. There's the choice of Black Interior and Ivory Interior… I assume mine is black rather than gray? And then there's the blue or white illumination colour.

Price changes on what you choose ($405.86 for white on black interior and $416.06 for blue). They want $160 to post to the UK which sounds a bit much, so I'd probably have it delivered to BundleBox or maybe a US colleague.

Selecting blue lights with black interior on Sewell gives the part number "6791048060C0SET" in the cart, so I'd be intrigued to ring my local dealer and see if it means anything to them!

 

Click here for the link to the illuminated sills on the Sewell site. When you create an account, the price drops to $405.86. I bought the pry tool from them to remove the sills. But i's not really necessary. Just watch the video on their site. There's about 4 clips that hold the sill in place.
