I was wondering if anyone could tell me what map version I have on my 2013 450h navigation system. When I go to Info/Apps and click on Map Data at the top it reads:

Map Version: 21-11-24 ( 2011-06-01 )

I called the Lexus customer service number from the manual to find out if I had version 12.1, but all they could say is I have the most up to date version. They even put me on hold to ask a supervisor, and they also said I have the most current version, without specifying if it is 12.1. Didn't see any 12's in the map version numbers, so just wanted to know if I have 12.1 or not.

 

Is the 12.1 the latest version? BTW, if if there is a new/latest version, does lexus notify the owners and do they do the updating for us?

 

From what I have done before, the following is the online way to find the current versions of map data and what changed in the latest level (to determine if you want to upgrade or not). Lexus US does not notify owners of updates, and all updates are a customer cost item. The two links below are available through "My Lexus" which you should sign up for via Lexus.com if you have not done so yet.

• Determine which gen of nav you have
• Then, check out what has changed here

The problem though, is it does not appear these sites have been updated yet for the 2013s. I therefore can't say for certain if "12.1" is really out or not, although, OP, we both have the same map levels in our new RXh -- I just went out and checked. Past history has shown updates tend to come out on roughly an annual basis, so I personally suspect we are current, especially since you double checked with Lexus already. If helpful, check out this thread which started out last fall about the new level 11.1 that came out, value of updating or not, costs, and so forth, and continued on into earlier this year, so it's still pretty current if you want to check it out vs recreating a lot of that again here.

BTW, OP, where did you hear about "12.1"?

 

new maps are release for public consumption sometime in November of each year. usually latest map will come with vehicles built sometime middle of the year. map version 12 should come with most recently built models and sometime in November rest of current owners can upgrade to ver.12.

 

Attached are photos of my 2013 450h navigation screen with the map data information. After going to the websites BertL mentioned, as well as lexusnavigation.com, I'm pretty sure I have the 11.1 version. The 11.1 version was closed in Sept. 2010, for release in fall 2011. I essentially have 2010 maps for a 2013 car. I doubt Lexus would give a goodwill warranty map update, as they did for some of the early release 2010s. I'll just skip this falls update and wait until next, maybe the price will be more reasonable. Thanks BertL for the information links.

Have any of you '13 owners tried looking to see if the "secret" service menu is still there. On a '10-12 the service menu shows the version in a more detailed manner.

For example "Info" shows it as 11.1 and service menu says 11.09.10.
