Wasn't the reason they removed the compass is the fact that its displayed in the navigation window?
I would like to think so. Having the compass in the upper left corner of my 2013 Nav screen is just fine by me, but others on the forum still believe it was a big take-away that it's no longer on the rear view mirror and believe Lexus was making a cost cutting change in this midlife update.

I guess its a similar to my issue of Lexus not illuminating all their interior buttons like the Germans.
Seems I spoke too soon. Didn't seem to have stopped it today. I'll check I did hit the save though later
Did you use your other key today? Lots of things like this are key specific with the key memory feature.. so if one driver likes it to return to the map screen and one doesn't - their key memory will change it automatically for them.

Couple of photos of our 2013:
Photo 1. We did for awhile miss the compass on the mirror from our 2010 with navigation, but are now also fine with having it on the map screen on our 2013.
Photo 2. We do like the home link buttons, along with the green light, on the bottom of our 2013 rearview mirror which we didn't have on the 2010. Makes up for moving the compass to the navigation screen.
The XM NavWeather alert on the screen was just a little flooding nearby.
In our '10 RX, the compass in the mirror is preferable to looking at the NAV screen for NSEW direction. The green light is there too - to signify the night mirror auto dimming feature.
Really miss the mirror compass on my wife's ES300h.
Perhaps cost cutting, but the '13 RX hybrid base price is $4300 more than the 2010 model. Good reason to keep it and extend the warranty. Hopefully, 2016 will be a good year.
