I have three different suction mounts from past endeavors, and none of them will even think of sticking in that area! Did you coat the surface with something? I just cleaned all three suction cups, no difference.
I've also tried sticking to the small glass 'port-hole' in front of the rear-view mirrors; they stick but only for a short while - I suspect the 'lexus' wording on the glass surface presents enough roughness to break any seal.
Looks like the custom ProClip mount is going to be my best option.

Keep in mind that ProClip has many phone mounts and they are not all the exact same size/shape. The one I use, for example, is quite large and wouldn't work well in the left or center mount positions. My phone mount would block the AC vents in either location which is a significant nonstarter in our climate.
There are photos of the vehicle mounts on their site but you need to consider the phone mount, your phone & how your cable is going to be run. Even without a photo, the Center Console option is going at least partially obstruct the screen and AC vent. The square you see in the photo of the vehicle mount is generally just large enough to mate to the mounting base of the phone mount -- which is typically larger even for the smaller phone mounts.

I tried the ProClip mount in my F250, and it just would not hold up or keep its grip... it kept falling off my dash, and it absolutely was installed corrrectly. I trashed it. Now I use the mpow unit, and it works wonderfully for even my large Moto Z Force in an Otterbox Defender case! For only about $10, it's a great deal!!

I bought the center mount Proclip with the mount for my Galaxy S7 and mounted it today and thought I't post some pictures in case anyone else is thinking about doing this and wants to see what it'd look like.

My current phone mount solution
This is my current solution to this first world problem that we have with our RX’s.
The contraption consists of a Ram Mount x type holder and peripherals and a Ram-a-can base in the cup holder.

For Fun - Custom RX Phone Holder
Was never a big fan of windshield mounted or air vent mounted phone holders, and I prefer my phone lower down accessible but out of the way. Lately I've been playing with vehicle stats monitoring apps. Anyway, for fun I designed and 3D printed my own custom phone holder that grabs onto the driver's cup holder but still keeps full function of the cup holder. My phone slides in from the top and, actually, to my surprise the whole thing is very sturdy. I can use the screen and go around corners quickly and the whole thing remains very stable. This was the 1st prototype and I figure I'd have to tweak and reprint a few times to get it right, but it worked really well the first time. I was going to print in black, but I was low on black filament so just used blue thinking it would need replacement, but so far so good. The picture makes it look like the phone is resting on the door armrest, but it isn't. Lots of room for my hand to reach the mirror controls, keeps my phone accessible but only visible to me. It maybe could have been tilted upright a little more...
Something to play with, thought I'd share idea.

My concern would be the blocking on the defroster vent and needing to plug in the phone. Also a larger phone might not fit because the bottom of the bracket is the bottom edge of the phone - see my pictures above of the center mount.

Thanks Randy,
hoping for something that will attach directly to the window, rather than the pillar.
Also hoping it will sit back just enough to not block either the vent or vision.

Best Cup Phone Holder?
Hi Everyone! This may be a unicorn...but I'm trying to find a phone holder for my car that actually FITS into the cup holder and STAYS PUT. Anyone know of such an item? Looked at the WeatherTech one, but it's reviews are really bad - especially for stability. I'm thinking a phone flopping around while driving is not the best idea. Please share what you found that works - and thanks so much!!
